After the past crazy months of covid then family sickness and funerals, we had a couple of glimpses of normal life. The AFL was back on and the SCG was opened for some members to a couple of games. We decided that we'd apply to get seats for James, Dad, Daniel and I for the afternoon game and we got them. We were allocated seats a bit closer to the boundary to our normal seats. We left Eliza and Alexander with Mum and headed to the game.
They did really well to make it a Covid safe place. We arrived at allocated times - ours was 1.5hours before the game. It was a bit of a wait but James and Daniel enjoyed watching the cars on James' ipad which kept Daniel occupied. They allocated seats in every 2nd row so that we weren't sitting close to others. They also had clappers on the seats and said that you had to sit on one side of the clappers so that you were spaced out. They mentioned that you were only allowed to leave your seat to go to the toilet, to get food, or drinks and everyone seemed to follow those.
It was so nice to be back at the SCG to watch a game live. Being a late afternoon game it was so nice to watch the sun set too. The sky was magic!
The Swans didn't win but the highlight was the kids being on the big screen! They sang the Swans song in their own little VW cars for the Volkswagen Caraoke. We clapped and cheered. The people sitting infront of us turned around the asked if it was Daniel, I pointed to him and said yes. They were just so cute! I was a very proud Mumma and couldn't believe they were on for the whole thing.

It was great to be back.
The next week we could apply again. Because it was an afternoon game we applied for all of us to go to the game.
This time we could allocate our own seats. Or normal seats were already taken so James got some seats in the next stand around. It was set up the same way - staggered entry time (but this week it was only 40mins before which was helpful with the little ones). We walked over to the ground together.
James had Alexander on his shoulders, like his Dad had him on his shoulders.
And Dad walked with the other 2. I do love moments like this.
We found our seats and I really had Eliza and Alexander on me for a lot of the game. They decided to swap each quarter.
We were ready for the game.
Half time there was dancing music that Eliza got into.
The Swannies played really well and we came away with a win! We were quite excited!
I'm so glad that we were able to go to a few Swans games this year before they moved north, and west, thanks to Covid.
