This year has been quite different for Eliza's Kindy. Normally at the start of Term 3 the kids celebrate 100 days of learning in Kindy. It is celebrated by doing activities with the number 100. This year because of having learning at home for a period of time I think this celebration was a bit forgotten. They then moved it to be celebrated the week that Eliza was sick. It is a significant time for the kids to celebrate so I decided that I'd organise a 100 days of learning celebration at home.
In the morning I told Eliza to go and count 100 pieces of Lego. She was curious about it but came back with a container of 100 pieces. I then told her to make a Lego creation with those pieces and she had to use all of them. I was so amazed at her creativity. It was the prefect activity for her! She started saying that she was going to make a house, then she changed it to making a park.
She did really well with using all of the pieces too. She made a cat who was trying to catch a fish in a pond. She made a swing set, flowers, a bridge over a path. She had some random pieces and made a sprinkler from the ground. I loved it and she was pretty proud of herself.
The next task was to write about her 100 pieces of Lego creation. She did great sounding out as she wrote about it.
I made a garden. It has a big, colourful swing and a golden big flower. A cat is trying to catch a fish.
Meanwhile Daniel was working on a brochure for him to take into school about Sydney. They were going to do it at school but he had also been home all week so he was keen to work on it at home.
For morning tea the kids all got a container with 100 snacks. To get to eat the snacks they had to group the snacks into groups of 10 and then count by 10s to get to 100 (Alexander just had to count to 10). They each got to enjoy their snacks.
I made a special 100 lunch that they each enjoyed.
We then played Snakes and Ladders because it was numbers up to 100. Eliza won!
We counted different activities in 100 seconds (eg. Home many times can you hop in 100 seconds, write your name, etc).
To finish off the day we made crazy 100 glasses!
