Thunder and Lightning

Last night at bedtime we had some thunder and lightning (of course it starts at bedtime). Eliza was quite scared of the thunder and didn't want to stay in her bed on her own. I was reading with Daniel and he kindly said that Eliza could join him for his bedtime stories. The thunder and lightning continued through the story time with Eliza being worried each time.

After the stories I spoke with them about the thunder and lightning and about how we were safe inside. I reminded her that thunder and lightning remind us that God is strong and powerful. This didn't settle Eliza's fears as the next thunder sound was heard. So we spoke about what the thunder could be.

Me: Maybe the thunder could be God saying 'Hello' in a really deep and loud voice. 'Hello Eliza. Hello Daniel.'
She giggled.

Daniel: Some kids at school today said that thunder happened when 2 clouds bump into each other. Bump. 'Ouch! That hurt. Oops. Sorry.'

Eliza: I think it's God farting.

We all burst out laughing. She went to bed giggling.
