Madame Tussauds

On the pupil free day of Term 3 Eliza headed to preschool so I decided to take Daniel on a date. Mum and Dad kindly looked after Alexander so it was just the 2 of us. We hopped onto a train and headed into the city to go to Madame Tussauds. I didn't know how much Daniel would enjoy it, but I got in for free being a teacher and Daniel was only $10 so it wasn't going to be the end of the world if he didn't like it.

Happy boy listening to his ipod
First time reading in a while

We arrived and only waited a short time before getting our tickets into Madame Tussauds.

The first person was Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Daniel was very keen to get a photo with him. Ha. He didn't quite fit on the shoe chair.
When we entered there was a history section. Daniel didn't really know any of the people but I told him a bit about each one and he enjoyed dressing up for some of the photos.
Chatting with Captain Cook
Trying on Ned Kelly's armour
Having a ride on Charles Kingsford-Smith's aeroplane
Ready to be co-pilot
 He liked sitting with royalty
And may become a future prime minister (there is a high turnaround at the moment!)
He then had a chat on Einstein's phone. It was quite funny seeing what Daniel thought the phone was and how it works. So crazy to think about how much technology has changed since I was Daniel's age!
Daniel was very excited to see Mark Webber and his F1 car! If only there was a V8 car and driver. That would have blown his mind I think. He liked 'driving' Mark's car.

Waving to his fans
He then had a go at surfing,
umpiring a tennis match
and running a race.
Daniel was very excited to see Glenn McGrath and Don Bradman and the chance to dress up to play cricket with them, even if the cricket gear was a lot bigger for him.

He didn't know who Tim Cahill was but was keen to also get a photo with him.
We then entered the music section. Daniel didn't recognise many of the singers but I was excited to see some of them! We entered a recording booth and Daniel had a go at recording a song - although he didn't know any of the song choices which wasn't as good. But he had a go at recording a song and then watching it back.

Doing karaoke
Watching himself back singing the song
I introduced Daniel to Jimmy Barnes and told him that Daddy's band sings a lot of his songs.
He sat next to Kylie Minogue, who I told him sang the song that he lined up to at school.
He had fun dancing with Michael Jackson.
And he then copied some of Ricky Martin's moves.
We then met some superheros. Daniel tried his hand a Wolverine but had to ask me why he looked so grumpy.

And then we climbed walls with Spiderman. So cool to see the photos when you flipped them upside down!

Daniel then had a photo with Iron Man.
We then went into a tv/movie celebrity section. Daniel met Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter. He couldn't understand why someone would hunt crocodiles and then got confused when I explained that the died from a stingray.
He had no clue who ET was and was confused why there was a bike with it and even more confused why the bike didn't work.
I decided to get a photo with Olivia Newton John in a Grease scene.
He was keen to do some cooking with Curtis Stone and was disappointed that you had to pretend that the rolling pin could move.
He wanted to get a photo with Marilyn Monroe and I had to laugh when he stood behind her dress blowing up. He was also curious about why there was an airvent. I subtly guided him to the other side. Ha.
Daniel walked the catwalk with Megan Gale.
I introduced Daniel to Jackie Chan, he's such a happy guy.
Next up I introduced him to one of the best movies of all time - Bruce Willis in Die Hard. Daniel was curious about why he had blood on his face. I explained the movie a little bit and then told him that I'd watch the movie with him when he is a lot older.

Next up was the Marvel section with superheros. Daniel knew of a few of them. He was as strong as Superman, just not as tall as. He needed some extra height from Mum.

We then sent out the bat signal and found Batman to help Daniel save the world.
The last section had different celebrities in it that Daniel had no clue of and I think he was a bit over getting so many photos with people. He did have fun conducting the New Years Fireworks though.
As we left Madame Tussauds Daniel saw one last person who he actually knew and was keen to get a photo with - Amanda Keller from Jonesy and Amanda on WSFM. Ha. Thanks to my radio listening when in the car. Love it!
We then headed over to the Darling Harbour Park for lunch. It was nice sitting and chatting with my big boy without distractions.
He then had a blast at the water park, something that I have avoided going to with the 3 kiddies because it's hard to keep and eye on all of them.

Our date finished off with ice cream. Yum!
We then headed home on the train again. I enjoyed having Daniel snuggle into me while he listened to music and I read. I'm making the most of it while he thinks it is find to cuddle mum, before he becomes too cool.
It was really nice having one on one time with my big boy. I need to make sure that I have many more dates with each of my kiddies in the future. Precious times and precious memories.
