Blue Mountains with Bluey, Tim and Rach

While Rach is out in Australia, we asked her if there was anything she had on her bucket list to do before she headed back home next year. The only real thing to do in Sydney was to go to the Blue Mountains. We offered to take her and Tim with us for a day of fun at Scenic World and then whatever else they wanted to see/we wanted to do. So that was the plan.

To make the adventure more fun, James asked around to see if we could borrow a 7 seater car so we could all go together. Our lovely friends Preeti and Vikrum said that we could use theirs. Lovely! It worked perfectly and was so nice to drive there and back together instead of 2 cars.
Along the way we were guessing what the altitude was because there was a little icon that measured it in the car. Daniel guessed 600m above sea level. Not close. Eliza guessed it was 1000m above sea level and she was the closest!

We arrived at Scenic World just after it openned to find that the Scenic Cableway was closed to be repaired. Bummer. This meant that the only way down and up from the valley was to go on the Scenic Railway, making it quite busy. Glad we got there early! Bluey was excited to be at Scenic World!
We lined up and headed down the Scenic Railway. Rach didn't realise that it was like a little rollercoaster.

Daniel ready to go down with Bluey
Daniel was really keen to go back up and down but there were too many people heading back up so we decided to go for a little bush walk to the base of the Katoomba Falls. It was a pretty easy walk and the kids quite liked it. Nice to do something different there too as we normally do the rainforest walk, but decided no to because it wouldn't lead anywhere.
I loved how Eliza gravitated to Rach
A waterfall (well water trickle without having much rain lately)

We then headed back up on the Scenic Railway. Because the front seats were already taken, Daniel decided that we should go at the back. The driver was lovely and chatted with us a bit. He saw that Daniel had Bluey so he took off their little mascot to show him. It was a koala too, just it didn't look as clean and healthy as Bluey.
Once back up the top we decided to go for a walk around the Katoomba Falls. This was another great walk to do with the kids. Alexander went in the ergo but the other 2 coped with the walk easily. More stunning views along the way too as well as some map reading to make sure we were still on track.

Waving hi to the people on the Skyway
We walked all the way around to the top of the Katoomba Falls which was quite fun to walk across the stepping stones - something that I was excited about. Stepping stones are always fun.

The top of the falls was pretty. It would be pretty amazing if it rained recently.

We then continued walking to the Skyway and caught it back over to Scenic World.
Love these guys
The kids got their place on the glass floor and watched the trees go by
We left Scenic World and went to look at the Steam Train powered clock. Daniel wanted to stay to show Bluey the trains moving in it. It is pretty cool to watch how it works.
Next up was Echo Point for lunch.

The kids were keen to go into the eating caves
We then headed down to the Three Sisters for Rach to see them up close.

It was a bit sunny for the poor kiddies
We then decided to go for a walk down to the 3 sisters to sit in one of the sisters. The kids and Bluey loved spotting some animal statues along the way.

Alexander wanted to sit on the lizard like Bluey did

We made it down to the view of one of the sisters.
We then went down the stairs, which were pretty steep and tricky to do with holding Alexander, but we survived. It was cool to sit inside one of the Sisters although the sun was in the wrong spot.

I then asked for a photo standing on the bridge and everyone was pretty obliging. The sad thing was that the wind suddenly picked up moments after the photo and James' hat blew over the edge of the bridge into the trees below. He was very sad, he liked that hat.
It was such an awesome day and so much fun with Tim and Rach. I hope we get to see them both more before they head back over to Scotland and start their lives together as they get married.
