We decided that we'd try and go on some adventures together on Thursdays. The kids were wanting to a train trip so Anne and I were game and headed to the station, pushing prams from home, to catch a train to the Beecroft train park. The kids were very excited and did so well on the train.
They had fun playing at the park together, although Eliza was pretty tired during it.
Ems, Eliza and Alexander were keen to sit downstairs on the way home. We said it was ok to do that, as long as we could see them. So grown up!
I do love watching the kids play together at our places too. Ems and Eliza tend to do their own thing and the boys tend to also do their own thing. I do love watching Flynn and Alexander play together and listen to their squeals and giggles.

One Tuesday afternoon Lachie invited us around after school and his Poppy said it was fine so we ventured around to their place. Was so lovely watching each of the kids pair off and be busy. The girls played and chatted on the trampoline, the little boys LOVED riding the bikes and the big boys worked in the garden building a road and paths for toy cars. These friendships are just lovely.
At Mothers' Group food is an important part of the morning. The kids all love their fruit! Love it. One week the kids couldn't wait for Anne to cut up their fruit so she gave them strips and knives and the kids sat there and chopped up their fruit and ate it as they went. Kept them so occupied! Great idea!
Cubby houses are also a big favourite at the moment. Each time the kiddies are around they ask if I can make one in the loungeroom. We often have lunch in there too.
The other week Anne and I were eating out lunch, chatting, and the kids were off playing. There hadn't been any fall outs, any arguments. It was quite lovely. The next moment, Emily and Eliza come running in. "Mum! Anne! Flynn and Alexander have taken off all the Christmas tree decorations!". Oh dear. Sure enough, the decorations as tall as the boys on the tree were gone. And there were 2 cheeky boys with big grins on their faces. We asked them where the decorations were and Alexander pointed to the tree. We said 'No, that's where they had been. Where did you put them?' We checked behind the couch, around the room. Nothing. I asked Alexander again and he pointed at the tree again. Then Flynn pulled another decoration off and threw it into the tree with a giggle. Sure enough, the baubles had all been pulled off the tree and then thrown into the middle of the tree. Cheeky monkeys! Poor Anne then spent the afternoon redecorating the tree. Oops.
I really value this time each week. Yes, it provides some downtime for me as I get to sit, chat and drink a cup of tea with Anne. But it is also lovely seeing the friendships between Ems and Eliza and Flynnie and Alexander grow. I hope these are life long friendships.
