Christmas Lights Drive

For our Tuesday Fun Night before Christmas we decided to take the kids to see some of the Christmas lights in our area. Unfortunately it was raining so our plan of walking around the streets had to go out the window, but that was ok. We improvised. James and I looked up the good lights in the area and we decided that the kids would get into their PJs and we would head around the streets so look at some of the lights.

That afternoon we had made the reindeer cookies that I had planned to make on the Carols night. The kids really enjoyed making and eating them.

Once it was dark we hopped into the car and headed through Thornleigh and Normanhurst towards Hornsby Heights.
The excitement from the kids was pretty special. Alexander's face was so excited every time he was some lights, even if they were little lights and not very spectacular.

James found a house that used a radio frequency to listen to as the lights shone. It was amazing to watch! And Eliza loved that they had some Frozen songs. We stayed here for 5 or 6 different songs.

The kids hopped out of their seats so they could see a bit better

When Jingle Bells came on the kids were a bit excited about it. I love that they joined in the singing.

We then continued to Sydney Street in Hornsby Heights and loved seeing their creativity again. It has been a lot of years since I was last here. I especially loved seeing a set up of the Grinch stealing the Christmas lights off one of the houses.

We drove down a street following an arrow that was lit up - great idea - and enjoyed looking at this house. Turns out it is the DeBeers who the Howie's know. Well played to them.

By now the kids (Alexander especially) were getting very tired so we headed back towards home, driving past the lights near our place. James and I were stumped why someone would want to remember 2020 so clearly with their lights.

We finished up at our place with Eliza's tree lights shining most of brightly.

James is keen to build on our Christmas lights each year. We will see how it goes.
It was such a fun night though. We will need to try and do this each year.
