Street Christmas Party

With Christmas coming up we organised our annual street Christmas party. I made some invites including some Covid friendly instructions, laminated them and then Alexander and Dad went for a walk around the street to hand them out.

It was again a street effort to set it up - Barbara and Gregory decorated the little Christmas tree, Amelia and Rohan put up a picnic shade, James brought his BBQ.

It was a good turn up, especially considering it is Covid times. I didn't know if the older neighbours would want to come but a handful did. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes, doing chalk drawings and playing cricket in the street.

Dinner was enjoyed. Most people brought their own food but some did share (was tricky to know what to do with Covid happening) but everyone didn't seem too fazed by it.

The kids were all very excited when next door brought down one of their dogs. It was like they had never seen a dog before!
The rain came and went. It wasn't too bad and the cover worked well to keep us dry when the rain came for a short time. The kids loved seeing rainbows come out though.
They loved staying up late, riding their bikes until dark and having fun with their friends.

It was a lovely evening with great neighbours. We really are fortunate to live in the street that we do. Our neighbours are so friendly and welcoming. The kids are so lucky to have neighbours who are around their age and who they love to play with. I do feel very fortunate living here and I hope that I never take it for granted. Some of these neighbours are going to be life long friends!
