This year I have been going to Mainly Music as a helper, not as a parent. It has been a great way to deepen my relationships and connections with the other parents, to be able to chat with them without having to worry about what my kids are doing. It has been a great chance to be an extra set of hands for the mums with multiple kids there. I remember feeling bad for Eliza because I had to feel Alexander during the music and as a result Eliza kinda lost interest in it. The thing that kept her excited was having a leader (Lyndle) who had her as a helper and danced with her up front. I was glad that I could help out this way and also help with holding the babies so that the mums could spend some time with their older kids. I have really enjoyed this year getting to know some of the parents more, growing a bigger connection with Mikey and Emma and to be able to support Eliza as she has led the group.
Eliza organised a Christmas concert for the families to come to and James was going to be there to help make coffees for everyone and I went as a helper. Our kids came too. Eliza very kindly asked if Alexander wanted to perform too. He'd remember the songs (he has done them since he was born so it shouldn't be a problem). Alexander was keen which was nice. He was going to miss out on doing a Christmas concert at preschool so it was nice for him to join in a Christmas concert.
The kids did such a wonderful job singing their songs. They were happy, Alexander remembered the actions and they were just so cute.
Last year Alexander loved singing the scarf song.Mikey stole the show with Baby Shark. Oh my word. I love seeing how much confidence he has grown this year at Mainly Music. He sure did surprise us all with this song.
The kids sure looked cute singing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
And they all got into Jingle Bells.I look forward to helping serve again next year in this ministry, to continue grow some exisiting relationships, to see some kids continue to grow in confidence and to make some new connections.
