Row Row Row Your Boat

For the holidays Jenny came up with an awesome adventure - to hire row boats at Lane Cove National Park and take the kids out. Fun! That was until I realised how tricky it is to actually row a boat.

Auntie Jenny took Eliza and Oscar and I had Daniel and Alexander. Jenny was much better at the rowing than me. Eliza was quite nervous to start with but as the hour went past she seemed to feel a bit more at ease about being in the boat.

Eliza sat holding the seat of the boat for a lot of the trip

After a bit Daniel wanted to have a turn of rowing and so did Oscar. Osc did pretty well. Daniel struggled to pull the oars through the water but he was still happy that he tried.
The kids liked spotting the different animals in the water like:
ducks
other birds and crocodiles. Hang on. No it was just a log.
Alexander was then keen to have a turn at rowing the boat. He struggled a lot but had fun trying.
Halfway through we brought both boats together so that the kids could swap. Eliza wanted to be with me and Alexander and Daniel wanted to be with Oscar. We successfully balanced the boats so each person could step over to the other boat.

Then we rowed back up stream.

Ducks chasing us

Daniel had another go at rowing and Auntie Jenny was a bit better at helping him than me

Eliza eventually had the confidence to try rowing by sitting on my lap. She actually helped me alot
Alexander wanted another turn so Aunty Jenny had him sit on her lap to row
After all our hard work rowing we went and had lunch followed by ice creams.

We then walked over the duck bridge (the dam) to the playground.
The kids found a lizard of some kind and liked sitting and looking at it in between going on the swings and the equipment.
We went into the exploring playground and the kids tried doing the obstacle course
And had a rest in the teepee.
A fun day adventure. Thanks for the idea Jens!
