Days 2 and 3

Tuesday morning the kids all slept until just before 7am - I think they were a little bit tired. They got up, got dressed (Eliza in her sports uniform today)
and had breakfast. After breakfast we headed to preschool to drop off Alexander. Not bad being ready after the kids sleeping later than normal. When we got out of the car, the kids hopped onto the wall and the garbage truck drove past. Of course the kids waved. They don't get to see many garbage trucks now they're at school and preschool on Tuesdays.
What made their morning though was that the garbage truck drive tooted his horn! The kids were so excited!
Now the distraction of the garbage truck had gone I was able to get a photo of the 3 kids at their first drop off for Alexander at preschool. He was so excited to have Daniel and Eliza there with him and they were being so very helpful!

Cheesy grin from Alexander
Their response to me asking them to smile nicely
Ok. Do a silly photo
Alexander loved walking along the wall. He wanted to do it on the first day but we said no because it was raining. So today was pretty special.
At the gate while I was chatting with Jill, Alexander went and washed his hands and then came back to me asking for his backpack so he could unpack it. What a grown up little man! He took it and when I came into the classroom Eliza was helping him unpack. Love it! He then went to sign in his name. He was so proud of show Eliza and Daniel that he can write his name on his own and I loved that they showed so much of an interest in him while he did it. Eliza was so encouraging and Daniel helped him to write his 2nd e properly and then cheered him on because he did it so well.
He then went to play and we headed off to school. Eliza was totally fine with lining up this morning to head to class. Just a simple bye and then off she went.
This cheeky girl sure is doing a great job at going to school!

Walking back home was weird for me.
My first school day of heading back by myself and not having a little friend at home waiting for me or following on closely to my toes. It was quiet, it was weird. Nice but weird. I'm sure that it will feel more normal as the time goes by. I headed to Mainly Music and then came back home to do some cleaning and have lunch and update my blog. And before I knew it, it was pick up time. Eliza came bounding out and when we got home she pulled out her rewards folder to show me that she got a greenie for her first day of kindy. She was so excited. Then today she came home and said 'I have a surprise Mummy.' She pulled out her awards book and showed me another greenie - for being a kind friend. So so beautiful. I pulled Eliza aside and told her that those types of awards are the most special ones that you can get - for being kind to others and showing Jesus' light to others. I am so proud of her. This morning was the first morning where she has been a little resistant to line up. She couldn't find her little buddy Cayla who she sits next to so she didn't want to line up. As the bell went she spotted her and ran straight over with a big grin on her face. Hopefully she will start to feel more confident or make more friends so that she won't worry when Cayla isn't there.

Alexander's 2nd day of preschool was great! He arrived and asked if they could have the tyres out to play with. Jill and the teachers went on a hunt and managed to find them (phew!). He was so glad. James told me today that he apparently had a few moments of tears through the day but was ok when distracted. He just wanted Mummy. That made me feel a little bit loved and was nice to hear. I'm so glad that he is enjoying preschool and is confident and fine when I leave but a bit of me was feeling sad that he wasn't around with me and it feels weird not having him here so it was nice to hear that he is feeling similar. But I'm also glad that he knows he is safe there and trusts his teachers so can recover and keep enjoying his time at preschool.

Today at the shops we walked past a book called 'Oi, Frog'. He stopped and said 'We read this at preschool. Actually we read Oi Dog and Oi, Cat.' He then started to turn the pages and recite what the page was about. I was quite impressed because he hasn't seen this book before. He was even saying 'And the lion sat on the iron' and kept going with the idea of the story. Love that he's learning and listening. Can't wait to see what else he learns through preschool :-)
Last night I had the meet the teachers information night. I introduced myself to Daniel's Year 2 teachers and both (seperately) had a giggle when I said 'I'm Daniel's Mum.' Oh dear. Not a good sign. Ha. They both also (separately) said 'He does like to talk.' Oh dear again. I said 'sorry. Yes we are trying to work on that' but they both seem ok about it. I did say that they are welcome to push him and be firm with him so we will see how his year goes.

2 more days to go for Daniel and Eliza's week!
