Toilet Training

After the Wiggles concert, Alexander decided it was time to start toilet training. I wasn't exactly planning on that being the case but he was keen.

He was standing there looking like he was going to go to do a number 2. I openned my big mouth and asked him if he wanted to go to the toilet. He surprised me and said 'yes.' Ok. We took off his nappy, he sat on the toilet and he went in the toilet! Wowee! Clever boy.

I then openned my big mouth again and asked him if he wanted to put on another nappy or some undies (totally expecting him to say nappy) and he said 'undies'. What the? Totally caught me off guard. Fortunately I was putting out things and found the toilet training undies in a box so knew where they were. Phew! Be careful what you say!

He was pretty excited to be wearing his undies.

And so proud of himself going to the toilet. Daddy was at work so we had to send him a message.

I loved him going to the toilet. I don't normally post videos of my kids on the toilet but his reaction was just too precious to not post and remember. The giggles and the joy in his voice. Too funny!
The main motivation for him going to the toilet was so that he could watch racing cars with Eliza and Daniel (a reward for them turning off the tap properly and hanging up the hand towel). Funny kid. Each time he went to the toilet he would say 'Yay. I can turn the tap off and watch the racing cars.' Funny kid.

Well done Alexander. I hope you smash going to the toilet! I'm sure you will.

Update:
It has been a pretty stressful few weeks with the toilet training. Some days he goes really well, other days he has an accident or 2. He gets quite upset when he does have an accident (which is good because he will hopefully stop having accidents). He sometimes tells me that he needs to go to the toilet. Other times he is too busy and that results in an accident. He isn't the best after nap time - definitely doesn't want to go to the toilet then, even when I tell him to. I have made a rewards chart for him where he goes to the toilet with a smile on his face after his sun comes up then he gets a sticker and it leads to Play School. He has gotten there after a few days but it is a challenge. It is taking a lot of patience with him and a lot of encouragement. But he is getting there. Keep at it buddy! You will get there.
