Eliza's 5th Birthday Party

The birthday celebrations of Eliza continued into the weekend. We had sent out the invites to her family and chosen friends. She decided that she wanted it to be a Fairy Party and people coming could dress up as a fairy, an angel, a superhero or just come dressed up as themselves. She is a gorgeous fairy.
During the week I painted an Eliza fairy for the game 'pin the wings on the fairy'.
I also trialed some food - wands and toadstools. They turned out pretty cute I think.

Friday night I worked hard on making the different bits and pieces for the party.
Gluten Free Cupcakes
Mini cupcakes
Then it was cake time. This cake was one that I had made in my mind. Eliza loves playing with her fairy garden so I decided to use the Women's Weekly Pool concept to make a fairy garden cake. I was nervous that it wouldn't look good but I was very happy with the finished product.

While I was working hard on the cake, Nana J was working hard on making a crown for her costume tomorrow.
In the morning we packed everything up and headed to Hawkins Hall for the party. We set up and were ready for the kids to start coming. Eliza was excited to see her cake for the first time.

She was right into the sandpit for a play.
And the rainbow jelly was a hit.
The kids all busied themselves playing in the sandpit, colouring in at the drawing table or making fairies at the craft table or just running around and playing on the equipment.

Colouring in table was a hit
As was the make your own fairy collection

There were a couple of set games to play - pass the parcel and pin the wings on the fairy.

Sophie won pass the parcel
Mum was again a legend at doing pin the wings on the fairy. Thanks Mum! Elodie ended up winning the game
I had bought a bubble machine for the party which I thought would be fun but forgot to check if it needed anything to work. As I pulled it out, I realised that it actually needed batteries to work and of course, I had none... Oh well. No bubbles. Or so I thought. Big cousin Oscar to the rescue! He brought his own bubble gun and the kids loved it! Thanks Osc.
The food table was a hit too. Phew! It was basically the right amount of food and the kids seemed to like what the options were, even with most being healthy options. The only one that wasn't really touched was the veggie sticks and dip
Howie and James dressed matchy matchy.
Then it was cake time. The kids were keen for it and it worked well to have some cupcakes and the cake. Just the right amount for everyone. The kids who wanted cake knew what part they wanted.

'I want that bit'
Eliza  loved having many of her friends come and celebrate with her and it was great to see that so many dressed up (and some adults too).

When I asked Eliza who she wanted to come to her party she insisted on Carol and Paul coming because they are her friends. I love the impact that these guys have on our kids' lives.

With Nana J in her crown. Such a wonderful helper with playing with the kids while I got everything organised
So lovely that Nana J came down for Eliza's party
The party finished up and I realised that I hadn't gotten a photo of the 5 of us together. So that was needed to be done.
Not helpful family...
That's better
We packed up everything and then headed home. Eliza was very spoilt!
When we got home the kids had some rest time. Eliza was so tired from her party she actually fell asleep on her chair while reading. I thought she was pretending, but she wasn't.

After a short rest we woke her up and she was able to open her presents. Boy oh boy she sure was spoilt! She was very excited with the different gifts she received.

Each week Eliza is able to get a few gifts and make or play with them. This will last her all year I think! She got so much. The first activity she wanted to do was design her own tea set. It was really cute!

We also put batteries in the bubble machine and the kids loved running around popping all the bubbles and trying to catch them. Would have been great at the party. Oh well. Another party instead.

Happy party time gorgeous girl! I hope it is a time that you remember with fond memories. Love you lots my Lizey. Happy Birthday.
