January Happenings

January was a busy time with catching up with people and spending time with the kids before school started for Daniel and preschool started for Eliza. Here is a glimpse of our January.

Alexander is climbing a lot more and just wanting to be like the big kids. He quite enjoys climbing onto his rocking chair and reading a book.
He also quite likes to play the piano and requests it.
Kimberly came to visit which was lovely! The kids were very excited to see her and play with her. Alexander was very attached to her - showing her toys, chatting with her. It was lovely that she got to meet him.
Alexander enjoys drawing and colouring. He was using the textas to draw a lovely picture while I was doing some things with Eliza. Alexander then came up to talk to me and looked like this...
I asked him if he had eaten the texta and he quickly replied 'no'. Cheeky boy. I think you had.
The megablocks are being used again by the kids. They enjoy building towers. Eliza was very pleased to build a tower that was as tall as her.
With James having so extra days off work when we got back from Hervey Bay, he got to take Alexander for his swimming lesson. Alexander had a lot of fun and started to do 'monkey monkey' with him.
We went and had a catch up with Grayma. The sweetest moment was when walking from the cafe to the park, Alexander just wanted to hold Grayma's hand, not Mummy's. It was beautiful and meant so much to her (and to me).
The kids crack me up with the postman. They run and get their little picnic chairs to sit on and then wait for Postie Rob to come. He is just so lovely and always has a chat with them. He's too sweet.
Eliza has gone through her clothes and decided that some are too small for her. I have kept a couple of dresses from when she was a baby for her to dress her dolls in. She decided to dress her teddy up in one of the dresses.

Alexander always has fun with the tennis balls at Nana and Poppy's place. Tonight he had a lot of fun throwing the balls at Nana. We just loved his facial expressions!
James then decided to put Alexander into the toy bin and play 'Jack in the Box' and push Alexander around. It was all fun and games until someone gets hurt... Well it was still quite funny for the rest of us.
Alexander is loving the trampoline at the moment. It is requested most days.
He has even worked out how to climb up and onto it by himself.

Eliza has learnt how to go cross-eyed. She's pretty funny.
We met up with Auntie Jenny and Oscar at Bobbin Head to have a play in the park and watch Oscar fishing. The kids were pretty cold so needed to borrow Auntie Jenny's jumper while James headed back home to get their jumpers.

We then went for a walk on the boardwalk to try and find some crabs. It was quite exciting to see the crabs - all different sizes. They also had fun tasting the salty mangrove leaves.

Love them holding hands
Daniel has started to learn how to skip. Pretty clever.
Daniel was reading a Mr Men Book (Mr Lazy) and came across a page. He said 'Look Mumma. This is like Boompa.' I asked him why. He said 'Because he sleeps in the daytime and is awake at night time.'

Daniel has been invited to a few birthday parties from preschool which has been lovely. Most have been whole class invites but there was one special party with Ernie where only 3 boys were invited. It was a pool party - first time letting him into the water without myself or James being in there. He did pretty well but he still needs to increase his swimming skills. I am so proud of the friend that Daniel is to his preschool buddies. I am so proud of the way that he looks after them, treats them all as equal, and just enjoys hanging out with them.

The other party that Daniel went to involved slime. He had a blast.

That night both kids decided that they wanted to sleep on the floor so did exactly that. They set their bed up on the floor and fell asleep there.

Daniel and Eliza had their holiday time with Nana, Poppy and Oscar. This meant that I had time with just Alexander. I planned to do lots of things around the house, get it organsied, cull things. Did any of those things happen? Nope. 1 kid is harder than 3. My little guy just wanted to be entertained and I was the only option. But I don't complain. It was lovely to spend time with just him. We enjoyed a walk together, ending up at the park. He wanted me to swing with him - simple joys.

I also made some playdough again - first time in a long time! I need to do this more because the kids have all played with it a lot!
Alexander also showed me that he has started to count. With help, he can count to 5.
He has also enjoyed playing with the sparkle wand like he does at Mainly Music.

Music is just in his bones. As soon as we turn on the music, he runs into the room and starts dancing. It's so beautiful to watch.
Daniel still loves swimming lessons, even with his new teacher. I can't but help smile when I see this cheeky little face looking over to me during the lesson.
I love it when the kids play with Jenny's and my old toys. Eliza has started to enjoy playing with our toy tree house.
Daniel and Oscar wanted to be Sydney Sixers Superheros and rose to the posing.
The beanbag is still a hit with the kids, Alexander included. We just loved watching his expressions as he'd fall into it.

We all had a chuckle at Alexander doing some spinning.

I wanted to take the kids on an adventure before Daniel started school and offered the beach or the Reptile Park. They both were keen to go to the Reptile Park because we hadn't been for a while. So off we went. The first stop was the Spider World to see the dancing spider.

Eliza then decided that we should go in to see the reptiles through the crocodile's mouth.
Smiles
Screams
It was cool to see Leonardo the tortoise stick his nose out of the water to breathe. I haven't really seen him move much before.
As we walked down to do the bush walk the kids got to pat some emus. They aren't really babies anymore but they aren't fully grown either. Eliza was straight into the patting, Daniel was a bit more hesitant.

Alexander liked watching the wombat having a rest and then flicking dirt on top of himself.
The kids got to say hi to Hugo and give him a pat.

During lunch the kids had a nasty scare though. While eating their lunch the emus came up to our table. Eliza just had her food held out to the side and the emu decided to help itself. This of course freaked Eliza out, and Daniel as well. I managed to shoo the emus away but it also tried to take food from Alexander's hand who was in my arms. Cheeky emus. Daniel and Eliza decided that they would need to sit on the table for the rest of lunch.
Daniel melts my heart. During nap time he decided that he wanted to have the table in his room. He wanted to write a letter to his friend Lachlan. After he made that one, he asked me how to write Nana. I asked him what he wanted to write to Nana and he replied 'Thank you for having us around each week.' All his own idea. Too sweet!
The love of cricket is continuing through the family. Daniel still enjoys batting, and now Alexander has started to bowl. It's a pretty good action.
Alexander drew his first picture of our family. I asked him to draw each person and this was his creation.

Life with these 3 monkeys is busy but fun.
