Daniel's Best Start

After getting back from Hervey Bay we went school shoe shopping. Daniel was pretty happy with his shoes and didn't want to take them off.
When we got home he wanted to put on his whole uniform to wear around the house. He was that excited! Little cutie.

Today (1/2/18) Daniel had his Best Start program at school. Mum and Dad came around to look after Eliza and Alexander so I could go with Daniel to school. Just before they arrived Daniel decided that he really wanted to wear his whole school uniform so we did the quick change into it and were ready to go.
We headed over to school and waited outside Daniel's new classroom.
His teacher came up to meet us and took us to his classroom - Kindy Purple. She introduced herself to us - Mrs Fearnside - and sat down at the table. She then went through a checklist of things we needed to bring in and organising Daniel's table and seat. He was quite quiet but also very curious about everything around the classroom. She went through the reward system and then asked a few more questions about Daniel, then I sat outside the classroom while she went through some questions with Daniel about letters, numbers, etc. When they came out the classroom she said she tried to trick him but couldn't and Daniel seemed very proud of himself. She then showed us where his bag hook is and also where they will line up in the morning.

He noticed some upside down pots with doors and windows painted on them alongside the path and asked Mrs Fearnside what they were for. She said that they were new and she didn't know but maybe on Monday that could be a little job for her and Daniel to do. To ask the groundsman about them. She told Daniel to remind her on Monday. I thought that was sweet that she decided to make a little task for her and him. Unless she thinks he won't remember which with Daniel isn't the case. Ha.

During the rest of the day Daniel changed clothes 8 times. Pjs to long sleeve clothes to uniform to short sleeve clothes to uniform to long sleeve top and shorts to uniform for Nana and Poppy's place to pjs at night. He is just a bit excited and likes wearing his uniform which is really cute! Mum also gave him a hair cut in the morning.
It will be a big change to routine, a big adjustment to doing everything without me reminding him but he is so ready and excited, I just know he is going to thrive and grow so much over this year. He is going to grow in knowledge, in behaviour (hopefully good behaviour), grow friendships, respect for others. He is going to grow in confidence as he approaches tasks and in confidence as he speaks in front of his class. I really can't wait to see where he is at at the end of the year, but equally I just want to freeze time and enjoy having him at home with me.
