Playing for GWS and end of AFL season

Daniel's AFL season has now come to a close and what a great time it has been. The Auskick program has been a wonderful time for him to continue to grow and develop his skills and knowledge of AFL. It has also provided him the opportunity to play at the SCG and then he was able to play at the GWS vs Western Bulldogs final. Very exciting considering the Western Bulldogs are his 2nd favourite team. Unfortuantely James and I weren't able to go to the game because of being at a gig for preschool but Poppy kindly stepped in to take him for us.

Daniel had a great time running around on the field again. This time both teams playing together were from his club so it ran a bit better. Daniel was wearing the GWS outfit (which Brendan kindly sent me a photo of).
The outfit was a bit big this time but that didn't stop him.

He even made it into the Auskick photos.
He even managed to score another goal on the ground! I love watching the reaction of the kids after he scored it, so much excitement!

Yet another special experience for him through doing Auskick that he will remember for a while. This club has been great! When we were decided whether to play for Pennant Hills or for Hornsby/Berowra, we really wanted to go Pennant Hills because it is the more local one, however, their training was on Thursday nights. We have family dinners on Thursday nights so I wanted to prioritised that so we went for the Sunday morning sessions and then next year we can move to Pennant Hills if both offered Thursday nights. Now, I don't think we will move. We have loved the way that Hornsby/Berowra Eagles works and runs. It is very easy to get to the ground on a Sunday morning, probably much the same time to get to Penno with all the traffic. Brendan has been lovely and so supportive and encouraging. It has been lovely to be able to be involved each Sunday morning. We have just generally been happy with this club. So we have decided that next year we will stay at the Eagles. Next year Daniel will be playing in the Under 8s group.

The group of Auskickers have been great too! Again, helping with coaching them has meant that I got to know some of the kiddies and see them grow in their skills.
We had their presentation day and Daniel (as with all the Auskickers) received a medal.

Brendan kindly gave me one too for my efforts in coaching.
What a great footy season! I'm glad that he followed his love of AFL instead of the pull to play soccer with school friends. Looking forward to next year.
