Aussie of the Month

Each whole school assembly (which happens monthly) a student from each class is awarded Aussie of the Month. This award is given to students for displaying the school core values of respect, responsibility, care and co-operation. The kids are recognised with a certificate and a badge that says 'Aussie of the Month' which the kid can wear to school each day. They also get to go to a morning tea with the principal on the last day of school.

I received a message from Miss Hellyer, Daniel's teacher asking if he was going to be back at school the next day (he had stayed home because of a tummy ache). I replied saying yes he would be and she then said that he was going to be getting an award in assembly the next day but that it was a surprise. So special!

Alexander and I headed to the assembly the next day and it was a privilege to be there as Daniel received his award. Miss Hellyer mentioned that his little face was so surprised when they announced his name. I love it!

His award is for Care and Co-operation which is just wonderful.
As I said to him, I am so proud of him that both his Kindy teacher and Year 1 teacher have recognised his care for other students with him getting the Harmony Day award and now this one. It is such a special quality and one which is so much more important than being the smartest or the fastest kid at school. I love that the teachers see his heart for others and that he looks out for them. I hope and pray that this quality will continue to grow as he gets older, whether he gets certificates for it or not.

He was very proud of himself too. He has worn the badge with pride each day since getting it.
On the last day of school he mentioned that he went to the Morning Tea with Mrs Granville. He really enjoyed the food. There was 'so much there'! He especially liked the Jatz biscuits and the lollies.

Keep up the awesome work sweetheart!
