Something that I never thought I'd hear is that there was a wallaby in our street. Yes, we live close to the bush, but it's still a decent distance to get to our street. But on Tuesday morning James came inside saying that he had just seen a wallaby in our street. The kids and I headed outside and sure enough, we saw the wallaby up in Dennis' street! What the heck. It hopped down our grass and down the street to Amelia's house. One of our neighbours had called Wires to let them know that it was here.
Nana and Poppy came around to walk the kids to school and as the kids left for school, they saw the wallaby again.
The poor thing must have been so scared. It was hopping into the garage wall at one of the places, it hopped over the fence of another place. It probably just wanted to get home but couldn't.
We left it alone in the hope that it would find its way home. We didn't see it in the afternoon so hoped that it had returned to the bush safely.
The next morning I looked out the kitchen window to see the wallaby in our garden. That was a surprise!
I hope it found something tasty to enjoy in there. Don't know that it would have. I had a chuckle thinking the amount of times Australian's get asked if you have kangaroos in your backyard and we've responded with 'No. That's only out in the country'. Clearly today I was proved wrong.
Fortunately that day was the last that we saw of the wallaby. I hope that means either Wires came and helped it get back home or it managed to make its way through the gardens to the bush again. It sure was a bit of excitement in our street though!
