Pylon Walk

James and I decided that we'd take the kids on an adventure to learn about the Harbour Bridge. While it's too much to climb the Harbour Bridge, the next best thing is to climb the Pylon and it was so much fun!

We drove into the city and parked instead of catching the train because we were still unsure of Covid and public transport. It was cool walking through the rocks and seeing some of the historical streets and statues. We looked at the difference between the original stairs and the new stairs as the kids walked up them.

We then started the walk across the bridge. It's such a beautiful place. 

We headed up the Pylon and enjoyed seeing the ways that the builders worked when building the Harbour Bridge.

Up the top of the Pylon we enjoyed looking out at the sites, spotting different locations, waving to the ferries going under the bridge, waving to those doing the Bridge walk, waving to the helicopter that went past.

We then headed back downstairs to the museum section and enjoyed reading different facts about the construction of the Harbour Bridge. It was pretty amazing to see the different designs (we all agreed that they chose the right one), to hear that not many lives were lost, to see original lanterns and read about the person who survived a fall. I loved looking at the stain glass window in honour of the builders of the Harbour Bridge.

We went for a walk along the Harbour Bridge for the fun of it.

We then walked around to Circular Quay and were excited to learn that when Eliza turns 18, the Harbour Bridge will turn 100. Pretty cool celebration! She suggested that I will need to make a Harbour Bridge cake for her 18th Birthday. We will see about that.

After pausing to watch the ferries come in, we then hopped onto a ferry to head to Watson's Bay for lunch. It was so windy!

Lunch was yummy of fish and chips followed by a quick play in the park.

The ferry ride back was colder and the kids were a bit more tired.

We loved our adventure though!
