Bush Walks

With being here for the Christmas holidays, we decided to take the kids for a few bush walks. Louise had mentioned the Platypus trail previously so we decided to give it a go (10th Jan). We headed into the bush and followed the track. The trees were quite nice and the views were great.

this moment was a bit cute
Down the bottom of the track there were some rocks to walk over the creek.
Then he highlight for the kids was seeing some people who were involved in a remote control car club driving their cars, Utes, trucks around on the path, up the rocks, etc. Real 4WD action. The kids loved watching them. The guys were really lovely, chatted with the kids and even had their cars chase the kids for a bit.

We continued along the creek and found a place to stop for some morning tea. Unfortunately there were quite a few mosquitoes so it was a quick snack and then we continued on our way.
I love that Daniel still wants to hold our hands
A good spot for lunch

Throwing in leaf boats
Towards the end of the walk there were stepping stones. I love stepping stones! They are my favourite part of walks that have them.
We headed back up to the car and then headed home for lunch. The kids were keen to go for a longer walk so we decided that we'd come back in a few weeks to do the other side of the walk, I think it was the Bilby trail. And that we did. On the 16th we returned to do the other walk.

It started off quite flat and not much bush as we walked along a fire trail to start with.

But James had his trusty phone to tell us important lookouts and areas along the way. The first lookout was lovely. We didn't realise that the end of the walk was underneath us until we were at the end of the walk.

The bushwalk itself was lovely. So pretty, the trees looked stunning, the kids did really well and didn't complain too much. It wasn't too hard a walk but it was a long one.

Over it
Under it
Along it
I loved the pattern on this tree

Following our arrows

This walk had so many stepping stones! I loved it! The kids enjoyed counting how many there were but I can't remember the total.
We found a rock for morning tea, but like the previous week there were lots of mosquitos so we didn't stay too long.

Rock jumping

We continued along the track - over creeks, on rocks, under fallen trees. It was such a diverse walk.

We made it to under the lookout that we started at and enjoyed a moment of sitting.

And then we continued along the track again.

This was a tricky crossing, trying to work out which stones moved and which were safe to step on!

Galloping horses

Every fallen tree Eliza and Alexander would jump onto it and sing the galloping song.
Towards the end of the walk, the kids were getting quite tired and wanting a rest. But we did see a cute little lizard! I'm amazed it stayed there with all the noise they were making!

We eventually finished the walk and then headed to a park in Cherrybrook where we bumped into Eliza's friend Ayla. They both were so very excited to have a bonus play together. Such a nice surprise after a lovely walk.
