With Corona Virus happening, church has had to look different. We aren't able to gather together on Sundays at church, but instead we are able to watch Church Online. The team have done such an awesome job pulling together a service for us each week including singing praises to God, prayers, listening to the sermon, kids talk and kids questions, kids craft activites. A different person says hi to welcome everyone. Byron and Tim are doing an amazing job organising the services and putting them together and as the weeks have gone by they are making it look so professional.
The kids took a few weeks to adjust to the difference but we have had a lovely time each Sunday morning watching live with others and feeling like one even though we are apart. The kids have enjoyed getting their own musical instruments or microphones to join in the singing and making music to God.
We have loved Carol's creativity with the kids talk - always making it fun to watch and a relevant and practical message to the kids. It is really nice being able to chat with them about what they have learnt, pray together and just grow more in our knowledge of God together. The sermons have been amazing and link really well to the currant situation. The pastoral team have done an amazing job and I love that God has gone before us in directing out vision as a church to be relevant to the current sitations - being brighter in our love for God, love for each other and love for the wider community.
We tend to let the kids go to do their kids church activity in the back room while James and I listen to the sermon. This has been quite helpful for us to be able to engage and for the kids to be kept occupied. I do love listening to them chat and giggle during this time too. They have been able to do practical things too like write cards and letters for friends and neighbours, draw pictures, colour in, etc.
We often have a family activity too. One week it was to draw around our shadows and then write out a Bible passage to remind us that God is always with us.
The kids made a cubby one week so we decided to do the kids talk in the cubby together. Just a way to connect with them where they were (physically). It was a bit of fun.
I do look forward to seeing how God is going to use this time at home together. Hopefully we all will grow more together into the image of God.
