So these past 2 months have seen a lot of use with the bikes.
It started with James and I going for a walk while the kids rode their bikes. It is about a 30min walk/ride around the block. The kids love it (well, Eliza and Daniel love it. Alexander loves moments of it but doesn't like the hills or riding towards the end because he gets too tired.)
Then James got his bike and that meant that he rode with the kids and I walked/jogged at times so that I could also help Alexander up the hills. Sometimes Alexander and I would do the longer lap with Eliza, Daniel and James but other times we would do a short cut and meet them at home (or more on the way to home because the others were faster than us).
James also took Daniel for a longer bike ride - just the 2 of them. They went down the fire trail, came out at Pennant Hills then rode back along the Esplanade. Daniel loved it and spoke about it a lot! He loved being able to ride faster, go further and use more of his skills. I'm glad that they went on that little trip.
Of course Eliza and Alexander didn't want to miss out. So James took Eliza on the longer loop by herself. They stopped at a bush point and went for a little walk in the bush to see what was there. Eliza felt very special with this. James also took Alexander on a trip on his own to Ruddock Park. They rode their bikes there and then did a few laps around the park before riding back.
The kids are loving riding on the pavers. They have set up their own little race track that they will happily ride on for hours. Daddy even joined in on the scooter.
This has very much been Daniel's go to for lunch time at home as well as after school and any chance he gets really.
We have a little friend who has quite liked being on the pavers too. Fortunately he has stayed out of the way of the bikes.
Alexander found his Orica Greenedge bikeriding shirt and wanted to wear it while riding. For Auntie Jenny we decided to make her a little video of the kids riding along to sing 'Call Me Maybe' because she loved it when they did that!

James took Daniel to the local Mountain Bike Track for the first time. He went and checked it out and then Daniel just wanted to go along with him. He repeatedly asked if James could take him and eventually James was able to. They rode up and had a blast exploring the different tracks. He even took Daniel on the middle level and said that he did really well. Daniel is now super keen for his next bike to be a mountain bike!
We also decided to try and teach Alexander to ride his bike without training wheels. He has the speed (which is what Daniel and Eliza lacked at the start) but he doesn't quite have the confidence. He is hesitant to be let go of. And when he rides he tends to wobble the handle bars or lean to the side.
A few days in a row of trying I'm pretty sure we will get there. It's just finding the time to go to the park. Hopefully with the big kids heading back to school we will be able to do that. When the kids were there Alexander was more keen to play with the ball and play with them than to ride his bike over and over again. He will get there though. James did take him another time and he was a little bit better but still not confident and would tilt to the side resulting in him falling over.
So as you can see, a lot of bike action happening in our house!
