We started with making some putty - it could be solid and runny. The kids loved playing with it.
We then did the egg experiment for Daniel.
Next up the kids did invisible letters. They drew with lemon juice. Then once it was dry I ironed over it and it revealed the messages and pictures.
The next experiment had the kids in stitches! They were laughing so much! We put some bicarb at the bottom of a cup and then put vinegar on top. I was doing it carefully but then it fizzed over the top. I cleaned it up, popped some raisins in the cup and nothing really happened. So I stirred it. Of course it fizzed up and over. The kids lost it laughing! You would have thought that I'd have learnt from that... but no. I again stirred it a bit more and it fizzed up and over again. Like a volcano. The end result was good though - the raisins did start jumping in the water. Pretty cool!
The kids learnt about force by making dominoes lines. They made the line and then tapped the first domino to see if they all fell down.
That was until Alexander had a go. He totally missed the memo on needing to just tap the first one.
We also did an experiment with the kids to make an egg shell go soft. We put it into vinegar for a few days and then tested the shell. The result was a soft shell. Daniel found it really cool and held it properly... Eliza not so. Oops!
I did have more planned but the kids kinda lost interest and just wanted to play outside. And that was fine. But we will return to more experiments later. Daniel really enjoyed doing the experiments which was great!
In the afternoon the kids had a facetime with Nana and Poppy and it was lovely hearing them talk about the different experiments that they did.
