Friday is a year since Malcolm passed away. We are flying up to Hervey Bay on Wednesday so that we are up there with Nana J for the anniversary and also so that we are there for Nana J's 100th birthday. We were supposed to all fly up together on Wednesday.
Unfortunately some covid cases are popping up in Sydney and we don't know what is going to happen with the border. With the uncertainty we decided that James would fly up early. So he managed to change his flight and headed up yesterday (Saturday). It was more important that he was up there than to wait and see and possibly be away from his Mum and sister.
The stress of trying to get up there, the uncertainty of the borders, the uncertainty of more cases popping up in Sydney is a lot. Not having James here this weekend has been fine but a juggle. With party pick ups and drop offs yesterday, then AFL this morning and many of the Gowers around for lunch it was a big couple of days. But we made it through.
There are just a lot of similarities to this time last year.
-Covid cases in Sydney
-Uncertainty of Queensland border
-James being in Hervey Bay before we were all going up together (a sudden change to plans)
-The possibility of James being in Hervey Bay for Daniel's birthday
-processing what is going on while being apart from James
Then tonight while I was putting the kids to bed, Daniel insisted on reading to Alexander. I told him it was fine, but he said that he wanted to do it so that I didn't have to worry about it and could go and get started on his cake. What a sweetheart. But it brought back another memory from last year when he insisted on reading to Alexander the night that I told them Boompa died to help me out.
I do hope that future years don't have many similarities.
