August Happenings

August has been a busy month, a month with on and off sickness but also a month of memories.

At the start of August on a Friday night we had a board games night with the kids. We started with playing Charades but then Alexander needed a feed so we paused that game and the kids played Trouble with James. They enjoyed it and from memory Daniel won.
We then finished off our Charades game. It was boys vs girls but with a twist. Instead of having your partner guess what action you were doing the other team did the guessing. Daniel was great with it! Even though he can't read yet he did really well with working out the actions from the pictures. Eliza and I went into the other room each time to practice the action before coming out. She did really well too. Here are 2 of the actions. They both are for animals.
Daniel is a bear
Eliza is an elephant
Eliza loves preschool drop off and pick up because she gets to play and explore all the different toys and activities. At the moment she is enjoying doing some craft and playing with the playdough. Here are her creatures.
Alexander has started to get into drawing. During preschool drop off he often sits at the sign in table and does a scribble on some paper with the textas. At home he has also started to like doing drawings. It is interesting that he is showing a favoritism to him left hand. It will be interesting to see which hand he writes with.
It's so lovely to watch Oscar and Alexander play together. Even with 8 years age difference there is just so much love between them.

James was vacuuming up something at Mum and Dad's place and Alexander was quite curious about it. He then wanted James to put it on his neck. He loved it. Ha.
Alexander is growing up too quickly! At the start of August he was turned around to be forward facing in the car. He has loved looking forward and Daniel and Eliza enjoy holding his hand.

Daniel is such a problem solver. He has a pair of lace up shoes which I told him that he wasn't allowed to wear them to preschool until he could do them on his own. The determined little guy rose to the occasion and taught himself (with Nana showing him a couple of times) how to tie his shoe laces. He was pretty proud of himself (and so are we!)
Alexander has started to enjoy cuddly toys. I loved seeing him cuddling Christopher.

We are proudly Sydney. Pretty fun to have all 3 kids fit into Swannies pjs at the same time.
Eliza and Daniel have started to ask to have nap time sleepovers. Under the condition that the kids play quietly, kindly and don't wake Alexander I have let them do it sometimes. They love it and frequently ask for it. Most of the time they play well together and are pretty quiet. I see it as making special memories for them.
Daniel's preschool did a fundraiser of making plates. Daniel did a picture of our family and our house with a racing track around it. It's a pretty awesome keepsake to have I think.

Eliza has also decided to mix up where she has her naps. One day I walked in and she was asleep on the ground - no mattress under her, just the ground. I can't understand how that was comfortable but she slept well!

Eliza is very curious about letters and sounds at the moment. She has learnt how to write her name (well, each of the letters in her name but they aren't always written in the right order). She was doing a craft one morning and drew a picture of me and then asked how do you write Mummy. I said M and she wrote an M by drawing a straight line across and then 3 lines down. I then showed her how to write a u. Then she wrote 2 more m s and then I showed her how to write a y. She's so clever and it blows me away!

After learning how to do a braid last month, Eliza asked to have an Elsa braid. I did my best effort to do one for her and this was the result. I was pretty pleased with myself.

Alexander is enjoying riding his bike and can ride it pretty well.
