My Birthday Weekend

I was very spoilt on my birthday by my gorgeous family! In the morning after feeding Alexander I received my many presents! James took the kids shopping for the first time to get presents and the results were very sweet, cute and classic.
James got me a teapot and a book which we will write cards in for our family making it a lovely keepsake. It had 3 entries in it from Daniel, Eliza and James. I love it! Daniel was intent on getting me a glittery top so chose this one. He also chose a pineapple cup on behalf of Alexander. Eliza chose an I love Mummy top and an emu and platypus toys, because I apparently love platypuses. So sweet. Of course the toys have become Eliza's but that's bound to happen.

For my birthday we decided to head to Taronga Zoo. They again had a birthday deal where it costs $1 to enter. It was a lovely day!
The kids enjoyed exploring the zoo.
Walking through the rainforest
The kids loved having their photos taken with their faces poking through the different animal boards.

This time we looked at the Australian animals. The emu was very curious about Daniel and Eliza.
And we had a lot of memories of our Tasmanian holiday as we watched the Tasmanian devils run around.
We didn't make it over to the giraffes for the money shot of the city behind the animals but we did like getting the photo of the 3 kids with the city behind the performance area.
We enjoyed lunch next to the meerkats. The kids were very curious watching them playing.

And Alexander found the statues of gorillas very funny.
We decided to stay and watch the seal show too. The kids, and I, loved it! There were lots of smiles and especially giggles when the seal was splashing around. They were very clever performing. I loved watching it too!

We also got to see the new baby elephant playing. It was so very cute walking around.
And of course we all enjoyed the gondola ride.

What a lovely day we had.

On Sunday we decided to head to the Blue Mountains. We went for a bush walk at Wentworth Falls. The kids were pretty excited to head off. It had been raining the week prior to going meaning that there was quite a bit of mud around. Fortunately we decided to put gumboots on their feet.

The kids loved watching the water

Eliza kept changing between Daddy and Mummy
Daniel loved leading the way, carrying his lovely autumn leaves

After walking for around an hour we decided to head back to the car. I couldn't help but try and get some cute photos of Daniel and Eliza standing among the beautiful trees that we walked through.

We enjoyed having lunch at the Wayzgoose Cafe (along with everyone else in Leura) and then drove to Wentworth Falls to see where the walk would have finished. Daniel was amazed at all the fog around the place and how it formed.

So it was a lovely birthday weekend. Monday saw James and I head (child free) to IKEA to get some new bedside lamps and a few other things for the house. One thing was bedside tables for Eliza and Daniel. Later that week we decided that we would have the kids paint them to decorate them. The kids loved making their own creations! Daniel's was based around racing cars and Eliza's was based around flowers. It is cool that they have that keepsake now.
Painting his race track
Eliza painting a flower that I drew for her
Both hard at work

A racing car
A flower (although Dad reckons it looks like a face. I have to agree with Dad)
