Daniel's 5th Birthday

The day before Daniel's 5th birthday he was sent home from preschool because he was sick with a cold. He spent the rest of the day couching, sneezing and very lethargic. Poor little guy. James and I decided that he'd stay home on Tuesday too even though it was his birthday. So on Monday night before our biggest monkey went to bed we took some fun photos with him.

Eliza wanted to give Daniel some kisses too
On Tuesday morning and excited big 5 year old got up and ran out to meet us. He decided that he wanted a pyjama day.
Before Daddy headed into work we were able to give him his birthday presents. He was very excited to read his birthday messages in the book.

He was very excited to get his voucher to the Mini Kid2Keeper program at the Reptile Park. It will hopefully be a fun day for him and me. We will do it in the September/October holidays but we were still going on an adventure to the Reptile Park on Wednesday with Mum and Dad too.
And our burrito loving boy also loved getting his own burrito and taco kit.

Eliza enjoyed playing with the cake that Daniel got too. She set it up for him and brought it to him singing 'Happy Birthday' to him. He then blew out the pretend candles.

After breakfast Daniel and Eliza sat down to decorate the party bags for his friends to get on Saturday. He did some great pictures of either racing cars, fire engines or pictures of him and his friends.
Nana and Poppy then popped in to see the birthday boy and give him his present.

He was very excited to get a shoe to practice tying shoelaces with. He then made Poppy a burrito, taking his order and requests while Nana enjoyed cuddling Alexander.
Just before Nana and Poppy left the garbage trucks came so we had to stand down the bottom of the driveway to watch them, wave to the drivers and bring the bins up.
We had a few photos with Nana and Poppy and the birthday boy (and Eliza wanted one too).

After lunch it was movie time. Daniel got to choose between some movies. He chose to watch Cars 2. Eliza was keen to join in too so after Alexander went to bed we got blankets and pillows and snuggled up to watch it.
Part way through we stopped to make some popcorn. Daniel enjoyed the movie. Eliza struggled with the length of time with it and wanted to watch some Play School instead. As we were all a bit sick, after the movie I did put on a Play School for her to watch too.

The Howies also popped in to see the birthday boy and give him his present. Daniel loved his card and enjoyed throwing the confetti in the air.
He was also very excited to open his present of totem tennis.

Oscar made Daniel a lovely little booklet card explaining the other part of his present - an adventure to the Powerhouse Museum with Auntie Jenny and Oscar. It was cute watching Oscar read it to Daniel.
Auntie Jenny also wanted to recreate a photo that she had with Daniel when he was just a few weeks old. It was very fun to redo.

We then sang 'Happy Birthday' to Daniel and of course, enjoyed birthday cupcakes.

After dinner Nana J called to say happy birthday to Daniel too. He liked having a chat with her (and was more excited to see Nana J and Boompa a couple of days later).

Happy 5th Birthday to my darling Daniel. I can't believe that you are already 5 years old. I hope that even though you were sick for your birthday, you feel very loved and had an awesome day. Love you lots.
