2021 AFL Presentation

After a Covid interrupted season in 2021 where it was cut short, we started the new season by celebrating the end of the last season with our presentation day. It was lovely to see the team again and celebrate the season that was. What was even more special was that Daniel received the Best and Fairest Award for our Under 9s team. I am so proud of him for receiving this. Not just because it shows that the parents of the team felt that he was the best and fairest player on the team but it shows that he was a great sportsman on the field and also tried his hardest. There were weeks where he should have received player of the match because he did play the best on the team, but I left him until last to get this award. Due to Covid, he actually missed out on receiving this award. I felt so bad for him because he did deserve to receive it, however, I was glad that if anyone did miss out, it was Daniel because I could re-affirm him and explain why he missed out. So it made me feel even better that he received the best and fairest award for our team. I think it is cooler than receiving a certificate and a $5 canteen voucher.

As his coach, I was so proud of the improvement that Daniel showed as the (half) season went on. He grew in confidence and skills. He supported his teammates, he cheered them on when they scored goals and he encouraged them when they missed. He showed great skill as a back, even though he wished he played as a forward. His tackling really helped stop the opposition at times. I can't wait to see how his skills continue to improve and his sportsmanship continues to grow. I hope he continues to love playing the game and support his teammates. Well done buddy!

Receiving his award

He was so surprised to receive the award. I love how excited he was.

A pretty proud coach

It was pretty cool that Noah also received the award for the U9 Reds.
Proud of his awards.
