Apple Picking

James has been keen to go Apple Picking for a while. The last time we picked Apples was in Tasmania during our farm stay and we loved it! So when there was a weekend available, James booked us in to go for an adventure.

I wore my apple necklace to celebrate the day.

We hopped into the car and drove out to Bilpin's Spring's Orchard. I'm not sure why James chose this one, but it was a good pick. There were many apples still available - many Pink Ladies, some Granny Smiths and Royal Gala apples. The kids were keen to pick many, we had to pull them back and just pick some at a time and make sure that we were picking good ones.

It brought back many memories of picking apples in Tasmania and how much fun we had then.
A lot of good apples were up high so the kids wanted to pick some of them too. James was awesome in having them go up on his shoulders to reach them (but they had to take their muddy gumboots off first).

We kept picking a few more that were at our level (without shoulders).

Trying to find the perfect apples

Happy pickers
The kids had a great time picking the apples and they couldn't wait to eat them!

We stopped at a little roadside bakery for lunch and shared different bits of bakery treats before heading down to Bilpin Fruit Bowl to get some fresh apple pies. They were so tasty! We got one each to enjoy in the carpark and then took one home for dessert. I do love fresh apple pie.
These kids will eat anything!

James also stopped to get some apple ciders and kindly got a couple of me that were non alcoholic.

It is a more expensive way of getting apples but it sure is fun. We made apple muffins, apple pikelets, apple brownie and a couple of other apple treats as well as enjoying many fresh whole apples too.
