My baby boy is now 5! I keep asking him to push the stop growing button but he keeps telling me he can't help it.

And then snuggles with me as we read
We had a photo with our baby boy on the last night as a 4 year old.
While he slept Daddy and I decorated his room a little bit so he would get a surprise when he woke up. After all, this birthday was to be a Bluey birthday.
In the morning he got to have a stacks on in bed with presents. He was pretty excited to have this. James and I have started taking the other 2 kids to the Salvos where they get to choose a present to give to their brother/sister. They have $3 to spend but if they find something cool that costs a bit more then we can give them some more if we feel it is worth it. They did well with choosing their presents.
Even Chilli joined in
Their messages in the birthday book are becoming so meaningful. I love seeing them read it and knowing that those messages will always be in there
Eliza's gift to Alexander (Nana J has a book the same about the beach and he loves finding in it!)
Alexander always takes Daniel's magic trick box so Daniel decided to give him his own one
He then got to open presents from all of us and I loved how excited he was.

His day was filled with messages and well wishes and he even had a couple of phone calls. James and I were really impressed with how he spoke to Auntie Sue on the phone - listening to the questions, answering them clearly, talking about his presents. It's impressive for a kid who hasn't really used the phone much before.
It was then a bit funny watching him and Eliza me amazed by the washing machine going around and around.
We dropped the big kids off at school and then he wanted Daddy and I to take him to preschool so we did - a special treat. He even got to enjoy a shoulder ride in.
After preschool I picked him up and brought him home where he got to open his package from Nana J and Grannie Jean. He was so excited to have presents and it was nice to do it over FaceTime with Nana J.
Then the Howie's came over quickly to give him his present on his birthday. They were also able to stay for some cupcakes and a very quick play with his present - some traffic lights.
Big boxes are always exciting to open

The joke is that Alexander always says 'traffic lights' when we ask him what gift he would like to give to someone else. So it was extra special for the Howies to give him some traffic lights to celebrate his birthday.

Eliza didn't want the Howies to leave so used the barrier to stop them going
After the Howies went the kids had a bit of play on the road with the traffic lights. They had a blast.

We then headed out to dinner at The Brook Cafe. It was a nice dinner and the kids had fun sitting, playing, reading and eating. Again, another nice and easy dinner.

As we left we saw Miss Stewart. I do hope he gets her next year at school. He had to go back in to let her know that he turned 5 today. He was so excited about it and keen to tell everyone.
When we got back home he got one last present - a set of Bluey toys.
He went to be a very happy 5 year old.
Tuesday night we enjoyed having everyone around for dinner and it included celebrating Alexander too.
The kids had fun playing out the front with the traffic lights. Oscar also brought his scooter so that made it even more exciting for them.
After dinner we had cupcakes to celebrate this gorgeous boy and he got some more presents.
Happy 5th birthday to my gorgeous bubba, Alexander. You are always going to be my baby boy, even though you tell me that you won't stop growing and getting bigger. You have such a joy in life. You smile and you make all those around you smile. You love to be complemented when you do something well and you get very upset when you have done the wrong thing or get into trouble. Fortunately that doesn't happen too often. You are my snuggly little man who is very much a mummy's boy at the moment. You want me to read with you, play with you, sit next to you and you don't want to be apart from me too long. While at times it drives me crazy, I do like that you want to be with me so much. You ask questions and you don't want to miss out. You love playing sport, love watching TV, love all things Bluey and love playing games. Keep being you, don't ever change. You care for so many, you are smiling and welcoming to all who you meet. I can't wait to see what God has planned for you as a 5 year old my little man but I know that it is going to be big things. Love you.
