The Olympics Must Go On

This year at preschool, because of Covid, fundraising hasn't really be able to happen. Parents haven't been able to go into preschool so the normal fundraising each term hasn't been able to happen. This term they decided to organise 2 fundraisers, ones that could be supported by parents from a distance.

The first was designing your own plate. We have done this for Daniel and Eliza and I'm so glad that Alexander was able to do it too. Normally it is in their 2nd year but he has a plate and that's what counts! He sat down and made a picture of our family at the Reptile Park watching Elvis the Crocodile. He coloured the water different blues, drew Elvis (then added hair to him...) and drew us in the stands watching him. There are dots of water because the sprinkler has been on to give Elvis a shower. Definitely something that Alexander is loving as a 4 year old.

I love that each of these plates are totally a glimpse of each of our kids. Daniel drew our family at a race track, Eliza drew our family with flowers around us and Alexander drew our family at the Reptile Park.

The other fundraiser that they organised was a Mini-Olympics. While the main Olympics were cancelled because of Covid, the Preschool mini-Olympics still went ahead and Alexander was so excited about it! Each class made t-shirts for the event - Alexander's class did hand prints with colours of the Aboriginal flag and the Australian flag (not France. Ha). He sent a video message to family asking him if they would like to sponsor him to do the mini-Olympics. Then at preschool his class started with an openning ceremony then did 6 different activities, including basketball, long jump (into the sandpit), an obstacle course, hurdles, sack races and the parachute. They finished with the closing ceremony and enjoyed a sausage sizzle (or in Alexander's case, 3 sausage sizzles) and an ice block.

Alexander's also said that they had a theme song that they sang together. Theirs was 'Hop Little Joeys'.

He sent a little video to everyone who sponsored him thanking them for their support.

He was very proud to have his medal for completing the Mini-Olympics. And his favourite activity was the obstacle course, closely followed by the long jump because they got to run and jump into the sandpit.

Because we couldn't be there or be involved his teachers sent home some photos of the kids doing the activities.
