Like with preschool, school hasn't had many fundraisers this year because of Covid (which has been nice to have a break from the stress of organising different things for the kids). For the end of term, the SRC organised a Crazy Hair Day. The kids were so excited about it! Daniel and Eliza both wanted hair spray in their hair, but I wasn't too keen. I didn't want it to go on their hats or their uniforms.
Then Anne messaged me asking if Daniel and Eliza could have hair spray to help encourage Lachie to go to school with crazy hair. He had been nervous about what other people think about him so often decides to not get involved in the days (like pj day earlier in the year). Daniel on the other hand gets so excited about it all! When it was first announced he came home saying he wanted his hair to be half spiky and the other half flat. Chatting with James we decided that it would be ok to have hair spray to help encourage Lachie to get involved. I messaged Anne asking if she wanted us to come around so the kids could get ready together and go to school together so that the nerves might not be there as much for the kids.
In the morning I put gel in half of Daniel's hair to make half of his hair stand up on the side and left the other half normal. It looked pretty crazy. When he walked out Eliza and Alexander both laughed at his hair. Daniel got a bit upset about it but I reminded him that it is a compliment to get laughs today because the idea was to be crazy and weird with the hair. He settled down. Eliza wanted her hair to be in a plait at the back and 2 dolphin plaits (no clue why they are called that but she insisted that the skinny plaits are called dolphin plaits) at the front.
When we got to Lachie and Emily's place, Lachie had an awesome mohawk and Emily had her hair in lots of little plaits. Then it was hairspray time. The girls went first. Anne could only find yellow and red. The yellow had glitter in it but wasn't too bright. The red on the other hand was so so red!
Then the boys went next. Daniel didn't cope with the hair spray. Look at his face!
The kids looked amazing and definitely crazy.
Crazy girls on a crazy hair day
The hairspray looked great!
