Meeting Reed

James' friend Lisa had a new baby 7 weeks ago, so last week on Wednesday James, Alexander and I went over to their place to meet little Reed and catch up with Lisa. When we got there Reed was asleep on the bench so we looked at her, then ate and played while James and Lisa caught up. Then little Reed woke up. Lisa offered for me to have a hold which I of course had to accept. She is so so little! And so cute! Then Alexander asked if he could have a hold. He was just adorable to her.

James enjoyed having a cuddle with her too.

Alexander was just so taken by her. He was so gentle, so sweet, so quiet with her. He reminded me a lot about Daniel with babies too. Both boys are so good with younger kids (Eliza too) but from a young age themselves both boys have adored babies. It blew my mind to think that Daniel was Alexander's age when I had Alexander! And I had another baby inbetween. Crazy!

When we went upstairs to have a look at their extensions, Alexander asked if he could hold baby Reed again. We let him but still supported her head.

He told me that he could hold her on his own and asked if he could. I wriggled Reed down so that her head would be on his knee and took a step back. Love! He is just the cutest. He was so proud of himself too. He whispered to me that this was the first time he got to hold a baby all by himself.

With Alexander being the youngest I don't often get to see him with younger kids so this was just an adorable time!

Also while we were here he threw me a bit by randomly saying to me 'I want to go to Grayma's house. I miss her.' This made me tear up. I miss her too and I told him that. Good to be reminded that he is still processing Boompa and Grayma passing away. Also important to remember that it will take time, like it is for me. Kids just get distracted more easily but the moments of missing them and sadness will still come. He surprised me because I didn't realise quite the connection between him and Grayma. I know he loved her and enjoyed being with her but he obviously really liked those times and they were special to him because he is missing them. She really was a special lady to us all.
