Bush Walk time

After having a long time at home, James and I decided that we would take the kids out for a bush walk to the Fishponds.

We drove to the end of Quarter Sessions Road and looked at the Aboriginal Rock Carving of a kangaroo. Very cool to see it (after living in this area all my life and I haven't seen it before).
We then headed down the end of the road and found the entrance to the bushwalk. It was lovely walking through the local bush. A beautiful day for it too.

They loved finding the waterfalls that they could hear as we walked down.

They loved taking different turns with leading.

We made it to the fishponds and tried to spot some fish. No luck. But there were some guys who were fishing, so maybe they caught something after we left.
I loved the stepping stones!

Alexander was too nervous about going over the stepping stones. Daddy to the rescue!

There was a fallen tree above a path. The kids were keen to walk over it like a balance beam. I was picturing the Dirty Dancing scene. (Which lead to the kids asking what Dirty Dancing is... Ha.)

I loved the sun coming through the trees. So beautiful. I had to pause and praise God for his creation.
We stopped and had lunch looking over the water.

As we packed up our lunch containers Alexander's one accidentally rolled under James' leg and went down to the water. Alexander was quite upset about it. So I looked down to the water and worked out that I might be able to climb down to it. Then try and find a long stick to get the container back. I made it down ok (wasn't too sure about climbing back up) but then the container was stuck in the middle of the water. It would come towards me, but then it would spiral away again. It was a bit cute listening to the kids cheer me on. Eventually the container came over close enough to me that I could pull it over to me and reach it.
Got it out of this water
I climbed down from here to get it (down the side of this rock. It wasn't as steep as this place)
We then continued our walk back up to the car. The kids got a little bit tired as we walked back. But they did pretty well.

Note the walking sticks with each of the kids. Although just at the top Eliza decided to leave her stick after poking her chin with it and hurting her leg.

We stopped for some afternoon tea at the top of the ridge.

And then finished the rest of the walk together (including a couple of bush wees for the kids who just couldn't hold it in any longer).

It was a fun walk and a nice one. I think I prefer the one at Cherrybrook but the kids liked this one more. Yay for more local exploring.
