I can't remember how we got onto it but Daniel was desperate to know how a tape cassette worked. He either saw the tape played in Eliza's room or saw one of my old tapes. Anyway, he was so keen to see how it worked, I decided to show the kids.
I got out one of my old Peter Combe tapes and put it into the tape playing in Eliza's room. Then I fast forwarded to try and find the Mr Clickety Cane song that they love to sing. It took a long time. I explained to Daniel that this is a lot trickier and fiddlier than using a CD or now an iPod. But this was the way that I used to listen to music when I was little.
Daniel thought that this was the best! He loved fast forwarding the tape and rewinding it to try and find the song that he wanted. He told me that this is his 2nd favourite way to listen to music. 1. is to listen to it on his iPod but 2. is to listen on a tape cassette. Then 3. is to listen to it on a CD. No clue how that makes sense but sure. Maybe it was just the novelty. I guess it's like how I loved listening to kids records when I was little because it was something that was only done occasionally.
It was also funny seeing their reaction to hearing the sound at the start of the tape and trying to work out what it meant.
