The kids wanted to catch an express train at some point so I decided that today would be the day. We hopped onto the train and found some seats... then I realised that it was a quiet carriage. Oh dear! Fortunately the kids hadn't been too loud, but Eliza had been asking a million questions. I gave them a corn thin to eat which helped keep them quiet. Then I gave them some books to sit and read.
They did very well with the trip! I need to remember to check next to the door before I get onto trains with the kids.
We got off at Central Station and headed to the light rail after a quick toilet stop. While we waited for the tram the kids sat and ate some popcorn while Alexander slept in the ergo.
I was waiting to see Auntie Jenny on the tram so we almost missed the tram (my brain wasn't working the best) but just before it left, I noticed that the tram numbers were the one that we wanted to be on. We quickly jumped onto the tram and started our trip. The kids did well with standing on the tram, holding onto the poles. As the number of people on the tram decreased we moved up to the front of the tram to watch the driver.
Daniel and Eliza both liked standing up and holding the poles. Alexander wasn't coping the best with having to sit in the ergo and not be able to walk around but he got there. The kids even got a wave from the driver.
We went all the way out to Dulwich Hill and then changed ends of the tram and headed back into the city.
We waved bye to the driver
We then headed over to Tumberlong Park. Along the way we met up with Daddy which the kids were very excited about.
We then explored the water play area of the playground. Daniel loved it!
We headed up to the grass to sit and have lunch (on the path because the grass was wet).
Alexander again enjoyed having a run around on the grass.
Whilst we were eating we heard a small band playing and James thought it was the Hot Potato Band. He went over and asked them and it was! So cool to listen to. After Daniel and Eliza had finished their lunch they went over with James to listen to the band and have a bit of a dance. They even took off Daniel's hat and used it as a trumpet mute which was very fun. After Alexander had finished his lunch we also headed over to join in the music fun.
Alexander and Eliza then enjoyed playing in the bark while Daniel climbed up the pyramid. He did very well, making it to the 2nd top level.
I had a moment of stress though. As Daniel was climbing back down the pyramid I saw him at the bottom level then looked over to Eliza and Alexander to see Alexander eating bark. I brushed it out of his mouth and turned back around but Daniel wasn't there! I looked all around the park but couldn't find him. We went from end to end a few times and eventually found Daniel was back over at the water play area. That was a bit stressful. I think I will give big parks a miss for the time being.
We then headed back to Town Hall Station to catch a train home. Eliza and Alexander fell asleep on the way and slept for a lot of the train trip. A sign of a good day I think!
Then Daniel and Eliza did some drawing toward the end of the trip.
I look forward to the next city adventure with the kids in the next holidays.
