Fall Down

Today hasn't been a great start to the day! After our breakfast (which my little piggy at 2 tablespoons of rice cereal and then 1 tablespoon of carrot/sweet potato puree) we then went to meet up with Megan from mother's group to go for a walk. After fighting the traffic at Cherrybrook shops we then headed off. Just a couple of minutes down the road as we were walking along the path, my ankle rolled and I proceeded to fall. I was carrying Daniel on my front in the Ergo so I then tried to gracefully fall without landing on him (difficult to do). I managed to fall onto my side, however Daniel's head still grazed along the ground. My poor bubba! Immediate tears, from both him and me! I sat on the ground to give Daniel a big hug, to try and compose myself and to stop shaking after the shock. A lovely man who saw the fall turned his car around and came to check that we were both ok. He offered to call an ambulance but Megan and I both felt that it was more shock from us both so thanked him but said that we should be fine. We went for a short walk around the oval and then back to the shops. Daniel had moments when he settled and then moments where he started crying again so we thought it best to go and check he was ok at the Chemist or if we should seek more medical advice. He was due for a sleep so it might have just been tired cries, or it might have been pain cries. I just didn't know.

The chemist looked at him and thought that he was ok (at this point Daniel had settled and was distracted by all the things to look at in the shop). He suggested that I use a wet cloth when we got home to wipe his grazes and to maybe put some ice on the bump on the front of his head. He didn't think I'd need to use panadol but suggested I watch his behaviour and see how he goes. He then asked if I was ok. I said yes, just grazed on my knee and arm and a bit shaken but ok. Surprisingly my ankle doesn't hurt at all. We headed home (I felt bad for our walk getting cut very short). Daniel had a sleep in the car while I called James to fill him in on what happened. He was so understanding which was lovely!

A nice bruise forming and a little egg
After a 30min sleep where I could clean myself up, he woke up. I got a wet paper towel and wiped Daniel's grazes. I was expecting a lot of tears, but there were none. He was so brave! He then had a feed and then a play where he gave me lots of smiles again.
I think it has upset me a lot more than him. It amazes me how quickly he bounced back. I still feel really bad for falling and hurting him, but I know it was an accident and that I couldn't have done anything differently. Just hopefully it won't happen again!

We also were doing some singing today. Daniel loves singing 'The Wheels on the Bus' and then clapping at the end. He is so cute when doing it. Here is a video of it.
He has just learnt that when clapping he opens his hands. He's such a happy little boy!

He is now having another nap. He went down without a fuss which is good. The grazes are on the side which he sleeps on, but they haven't seemed to faze him. Phew!
