Saturday was a much slower paced day. We spent time cleaning, playing on the road, hanging out. It was also the day that I tried to cut the kids' hair. Talk about stressful! I think it is more stressful than doing home learning! It has always been a job that Mum does because I'm too scared that I will cut it wrong. I looked up how to cut boy's hair with scissors on YouTube and watched it a few times. I then started with Alexander because I knew he would sit still longer than Daniel would. I took a long time, pausing the video as I went to see what the next steps were. The fringe is the trickiest part to make sure it doesn't look like a bowl cut! It didn't look too bad for my first go.
It was very similar for Daniel. I took ages to cut his hair. With both boys I didn't cut off as much as I probably should have because I was way too nervous about making a really big mistake.
But I was grateful that the boys were pretty patient with me taking so long to cut their hair.
Eliza was keen for me to cut her hair too but as I started to brush it the ice cream truck came down the road playing its music. James and I were keen to have an ice cream so we decided that we'd get one for everyone. The kids were SOOO excited! They wanted to choose their own one so we gave them a couple of options - sprinkles or chocolate or nuts. Eliza and Alexander chose sprinkles, Daniel chose chocolate and James and I chose nuts. It was so good!
We sat on the front lawn to enjoy our ice creams and it was cool to see a number of different people use the exercise loop and come down to see the Art Gallery. I'm so glad that the community have enjoyed looking at it. A couple who came asked if we put it together. We said we did with the help of neighbours. They were lovely and said it was a great idea. They then asked if by chance I was a primary school teacher. Ha. Good working out!
I also cut Eliza's hair while she ate her ice cream. Interestingly she moved more than the boys did!
Alexander has also used this lockdown time to get comfortable with riding down the driveway. He then kept trying to ride up the driveway on his own and today he did it! He was so proud of himself as were the rest of us who cheered him on!
