Despite Covid being present, Daniel was able to start some cricket games. The end of last year he was doing training with some kids and growing his skills. The start of 2021 saw these kids able to join the Under 9s cricket comp.
Daniel was so excited to have his Thornleigh Cricket Club uniform and head to his first game up at school.
They didn't win but he had fun, hit the ball a couple of times and had someone run out when he was bowling. The team did really well with their first game.I had to chuckle with the calling of running. Yes, no, yes, no. They did improve over the season with the calling but golly it was funny and stressful at times!
Daniel's bowling was pretty good too. He mostly kept it on the pitch and they didn't get many runs off him.
I put my hand up to do the scoring for the game. It is something that I remember Mum doing for my cricket (and softball) games and so I thought it would be a good way to be involved without being coach and umpire. It also helps you focus on the game too.
At night James and I then headed into the Big Bash to see the Sixers have a great game and win. Because of Covid we needed to wear masks to go in and out and also had seats spread out. It was great to be back at a cricket game, and it was fun to sit with Howie and Oscar for the game too. Well played Sixers!
