Mr Squiggle and Boxes

Swimming lessons can feel like a very long time when we are sitting there for an hour each week. With James working from home I often just take Daniel and Eliza, but sometimes I need to have Alexander with me too. I haven't felt comfortable just giving the kids my phone to watch something on. Instead I have them read to me their reader for school. But this doesn't fill 30 mins. This lead to me introducing Daniel and Eliza to the game of boxes. It has been great and Daniel and Sophie really enjoy playing against each other with it.

The other activity which I introduced to the kids (and they have really gotten into) is Mr Squiggle. Eliza is great with coming up with very creative pictures from the squiggles that I have drawn. Daniel likes to make racing tracks or computer games. But he is still occupied and needing to be creative to use the squiggles. Sophie and Eve often get involved with the games too. I do love that they are being creative and using their minds during these times waiting for swimming.

It is fun teaching the kids these activities which I grew up with and seeing them enjoy it. Goes to show you don't need to have a screen to have fun.
