Daniel's 7!!

My baby boy is now 7 years old. How on earth is he 7? He has a lovely, kind, caring, cheeky, strong willed, problem solving, strategic little guy. While at times he drives me crazy with wanting things his way, I absolutely love him to bits. I love watching him with his siblings and friends. I love listening to his thoughts and many many many questions. I love his love of sport and that I can share it with him. He is just a great kid.

It's funny how each birthday he has I think back to having him in hospital. I think back to him not breathing when he came out. I think about how lucky we are that he started breathing again with a little bit of help. I think about how he first cried when he had the heel prick test. I think about how out of my depth I felt after having him. How everything was amazing but overwhelming. How he didn't feed well, but we pushed through together. How I thought he looked fine and healthy but when I look back at photos, I notice that he was actually very skinny and can see why the nurses were worried about him. I do wonder if those memories will fade as the years go by, or if they will stay strong in my mind as they do 7 years on. Only time will tell.

The night before Daniel turned 7 we took a couple of photos with him.

After waking in the morning and getting ready for school we headed to our bed for Daniel's presents. He loved reading his birthday messages and pictures and he really liked his presents.

We all walked Daniel to school (his request). He was very excited to wear the class birthday badge. When I saw him at school I understand why it was a big thing.
We gave him a special surprise of a birthday cookie.
He also had a birthday lunch order and he took into school a special book to share with the class 'Why I love Footy'.

After school Daniel Facetimed with Nana J and Boompa.
He was excited to open their presents and the one from Grannie Jean.

He was so excited...
To get the new Hot Dog book from Grannie Jean
We then headed to Nana and Poppy's place where he was lucky to get more presents from Nana and Poppy and from the Howies.

Oscar had to help explain the present
From the Howies Daniel, myself, Oscar and Auntie Jenny are going to go to hear the 117 Storey Tree House with Andy Griffiths. He will also be able to meet Andy and get his new book signed. Very cool! I don't think he fully understood what the gift is but I am sure that when we go, he will be very excited.

Nana made Daniel a cool birthday cake. His request was chocolate with 2 layers and she pulled it together.
We sang Happy Birthday and he blew out the candles.

They were a bit excited for cake.
Happy birthday my dear Daniel. I am so very proud of you and who you are. Never change. Can't wait to see what joys and adventures your 7th year will bring. Love you buddy.
