Getting Lost Adventure

As I have mentioned, I was given a Getting Lost adventure card set from the Leman's for my birthday. Because of lockdowns we hadn't had the chance to go for an adventure but with restrictions easing we decided that we could give it a go.

Saturday morning started with the kids using the branches to make some shelters. They each made a house in the backyard. It was lovely hearing them work together to get from the carport to the backyard.

They made a road from both shelters

They then decorated with leaves

Then we hopped into the car and started our 'Getting Lost Adventure'. The kids took turns to read the next instruction card. We started on Duffy Ave and got the cards 'take the next left' followed by 'take the next right'. We then had to go to the nearest suburb that began with the youngest person's name, A fo Alexander. We looked at the GPS and came up with Asquith.

We had a bit more of a drive and the next card said that we needed to dance to the next song.

The following card was to stop and explore a natural place. We drove past the sign to Lovers Jump Creek Walk so we pulled over in a side street and went for a walk to explore it. It was complete with trees, dog poo (annoyingly stepped in and hard to get off), small waterfalls, lizards, tracks, off road parts. It was fun.

From the path we could see a waterfall but it looked like a steep slope to get down to it. James was hesitant but I though we could give it a go and see how steep it actually was. We were really glad that we did it. We made our way down, it was only steep at the start and it gave us some giggles as our feet slipped and needed to hold onto each other to make our way back up.

Daniel then spotted a lizard on our way back to the car. It was a nice place to stop. Would like to go back and do more of the walk when we are more prepared.

We kept on driving and the pulled out the card 'Stop for a photo'. We ended up taking a few photos. The kids had fun on a balance beam, walking, jumping off.

We then got a nice family photo.

As well as this one. The card said 'Stop for a photo'.

We then got some cards that told us to follow certain coloured cars. The first one was white and it lead up back towards home. We followed it until it took us to a nursing home.

Then we pulled out the next card which told us to follow a blue car. We headed back onto Pennant Hills Road and found our blue car.

We joked that it would take us home, but fortunately it didn't turn onto Duffy. We then joked that it was taking us to Bunnings to get a sausage sandwich. They drove past that driveway. We then joked that it was taking us to Maccas. Sure enough, it did! Because the blue car turned into Maccas drive thru, we had to as well. We got everyone a 30c (not that price anymore) cone. There were many giggles and many cheers from the kids.

We decided that we should leave the blue car alone now and took the next card. It said to type Lake into Google Maps and see where it took us. It took us to Lake Parramatta.

We had a nice time walking over to the dam wall and around the lake and then back up to the playground. I was very impressed with Eliza and Daniel able to do the monkey bars. It's also the first playground that the kids have been on for 3 months!

We then headed back to the car and pulled out the next card that said 'Head home'. Good timing. We had also pulled out a few times 'Stop and get a treat' but didn't want to get something from somewhere close to us. As we drove home I looked up different places to get treats but all places were closed. We ended up stopping at Bakers Delight to get some lemon tats and mince pies. Yum! We enjoyed them at home for dessert.

We had a very fun time going on our adventures! We found some new places and we had many laughs. Our plan next time is to drive somewhere further away from home to start so that we might find some brand new places and so that we don't feel we will end up back at home. That's the plan for next time. Looking forward to our next trip where we get lost.
