Father's Day weekend was a busy but fun one, creating memories as a family but also creating memories with Bob Bilby. Friday afternoon Eliza gave James her Father's Day gift, a grazing box ordered through preschool. She was very excited that it included olives for her... I mean for Daddy.
Saturday morning I made a Hand, Make Up and Nail salon for the kids to enjoy. I did Bob Bilby's first, then did the kids' hair and nails. Eliza was the only one to have make up done. It was nice to spend a bit of time with them. The boys loved getting gel in their hair.
In the afternoon James and I organised a high tea for Bob Bilby and the kids to enjoy. We set it all up in the dining room table. I even set up a pretend food high tea for Bob Bilby to enjoy with Eliza.
A good set up of fruit, finger sandwiches, cupcakes, scones, Bluey biscuits, caramel slice, killer pythons
The kids were pretty excited to come in and I love that James took on being a host.
The high tea was very yummy and so very filling. We didn't have much for dinner. It was also a good balance between savoury and sweet.
Saturday night James and I enjoyed a date night organised by preschool. Jane, from Funky Zebra, organised an online painting class. It was a new experience for James and I but we thought it would be a lot of fun. I'm really glad that James was happy to do it and we both really ended up enjoying it. We were really surprised with our finished product, and have now put them up on our bedroom wall.
We started with drawing the outline with yellow Texta
We then went step by step painting the different layers
Adding the finishing touches to our artworks
Sunday morning the kids were excited to surprise Daddy with a lockdown style special day for him. Because we couldn't go out for breakfast we instead made breakfast at home at the Nooblette cafe. Alexander got straight up and started chopping his fruit to make fruit skewers.
We let Daddy have a little sleep in until the kids were ready to run in and jump on him to wake him up for presents time and breakfast ordering.
Reading the birthday book Eliza made a search and find activity for Daddy
I love Alexander's excitement in the background
Bluey vouchers
The kids took turns to take Daddy's order for breakfast.
Alexander finished off his fruit skewers and Daniel got busy making Daddy's hot breakfast - bacon and egg rolls and a hashbrown. He did really well with the oven and stove top while cooking.
We watched church together. I loved seeing Daddy get involved in the kids dance. The kids loved it!
After church we enjoyed a special Father's Day episode of Bluey.
Then Eliza got busy making some morning tea - a grazing plate of her own. I was really proud of her and the finished product. And it was very tasty!
Daddy was impressed!
After our tummies were full, we pulled out the easel from preschool to surprise Daddy with our craft-a-noon. Daddy was the model and each of the kids took turns to paint Daddy. I love that we now have a complete set of Daddy paintings by the kids using this easel. It was such a fun afternoon too. Bob Bilby even got into the action.
Alexander went first
Cute!
Daddy wanted a closer picture from his shoulders up so Alexander painted a 2nd picture of Daddy. I love his hair
Rubbing the paint onto his paper
He looked a bit like a clown...
Hand up!
It was Daniel's day with Bob Bilby so Daniel wanted to paint Daddy and Bob Bilby
The artworks
We then did a Father's Day work out together (even though Daddy wasn't too keen on the different activities). The kids loved it and it did give us many giggles.
We finished the day off with Maccas for take away. It was very popular with the kids (and the big kids too). A very nice way to finish off a fun weekend.
