After such a warm Summer, when walking home from school it was pouring down with rain. The kids were loving being in raincoats and gumboots and I decided that we wouldn't rush. As they walked home they spotted some worms being washed down the gutter. Some worms turned into many worms. The kids noticed that they were crawling out from the soil and crawling down to the water. They were amazed! They started to run up and down the road spotting worms, counting them, helping them move into the running water, watching them rush down the drain. It was a moment of 'let kids be kids' and they had such pure joy.
