Time with Grayma

I love that our kids are able to spend time with some of their great grandmas. In the holidays, the kids and I headed over to Grayma's place to have lunch. Normally we meet up for lunch at the park after having a coffee/hot chocolate/babychino at Kiplings Garage but because she is still recovering after her fall we decided to go and visit her at her place.

First we stopped at the cafe to get take away babychinos, coffee and hot chocolate. The kids were pretty stoked about that! Then we headed up to Grayma's place.
Babychinos in hand. Happy kiddies
I just love watching my kids interact with their Grayma. It is different to what I remember my interactions were with Granny (but maybe I don't remember the earlier days). With Granny I really just remember going and visiting her for a short time at the nursing home. I remember briefly chatting with her, getting a $1 coin when we visited and getting a square of chocolate from Rose who sat opposite her. Much more than that I don't remember. I don't remember playing games with her or really chatting with her all that much about school or life. To me, Granny was a lot older than what Grayma is now for my kids. But again, that is probably not the case.

I love that all 3 kids were excited to go and visit Grayma. I love that they were fine with going to her place instead of going to the park. When we arrived and after they had drunk their babychinos, Grayma sent them on a hunt to find how many photos there were of themselves. Easy to say that there are a lot of photos of them around the place - she is a very proud Grayma! I told the kids to each pack their backpacks with toys to take to Grayma's place because she doesn't have any kids toys so they did. A lot of what they packed wasn't very helpful but they were still kept occupied playing and chatting. I did take the quietbooks which did provide a lot of entertainment for them.

Daniel even decided to have a game of noughts and crosses with Grayma. She won both times and I just loved watching her joy and Daniel's face as he realised he had places the counter in the wrong place.

It is things like that that I love watching. I love seeing the kids make memories and I love seeing how much joy Grandma gets from chatting with them. I do hope that they remember these sorts of moments with her as they get older.

All 3 kiddies really do love their Grayma and it is a very special time to spend with her.
