And he's off!

Just one day shy of his first birthday (16th May, 2017), Alexander was very clever and started to walk. While mum was around he was standing with her and then he took a couple of steps to the coffee table. We tried to have him repeat it and he sort of did, but he wasn't as stable as the first steps he took.

I had a feeling it was going to happen soon. He was very close to walking on Mothers' Day at Auntie Sue's place. Jenny was playing with him and he took a couple of steps/fell to her. But those ones weren't very controlled. The ones with Mum were much more controlled.

When James came home I was telling him that Alexander took his first steps. James wanted to see for himself so put Alexander down on the ground and moved backwards. Alexander then walked to James - much to our excitement and surprise!

Since taking those steps he has grown a lot in confidence with walking. It is now his preferred method of moving around. He can do loops around the circuit in our house. I love watching the process of learning to walk. The arms up in the air to balance but also to prepare for falling. The waddle as he walks around is so cute! His smile and cheeky grin shows how proud he is of himself, as are we.

Another first has come and gone. My baby is growing up and is now a toddler!
