Star Performer

Daniel is becoming so interactive, it is wonderful to watch and see. He can (mostly) clap his hands on demand and is very proud of himself when he does.
When  I was reading "I Went Walking" with him I was talking about the animals and the different sounds that they make. When it came to the cow I said 'The cow says moo' and Daniel echoed 'Oooo'. I tried again and he repeated me. Very cute. After a nap I asked him what sound a cow makes and he chose to perform. Yay. He hasn't done it again since though. Cheeky boy.

He also frequently clicks his fingers. He started doing it as a wave when saying hi, now it seems to be something he does at different times. I wonder if the skill of clicking will stay with him or if he will stop and then need to re-learn it like other kids.

While we still need to get our piano tuned I have at times sat down with Daniel and let him have a play of it. He seems to enjoy the sounds and being able to play it. I hope that as he grows up he will be interested in playing and learning the piano. I wish I still played it, and I love that James enjoys playing it so much.

Singing too

Last weekend we went to the city so that James could organise a city adventure for Kedron. The family fun ticket that allows you to go on most public transport on Sundays for just $2.50 is awesome and I really hope to take advantage of it on Sundays as Daniel grows up! It was fun walking around the city, thinking up different questions for the kids to find the answers and taking Daniel around our city. For lunch we sat on the grass beside Circular Quay and had our sandwiches. Daniel loves eating ricotta on bread and demolishes a whole mandarin. He enjoys eating it by himself, although you need to control how much goes in because otherwise he put too many pieces in his mouth and can't chew it.
Yummy! Mandarin.

On the train

Cool dude!
He has also started to push his toy cars around properly. Crawling around with one hand on top of his car. The video doesn't quite show how well he can do it, but that's ok.

At Nana and Poppy's place he loved crawling the tunnel, chasing Oscar or the balls. I just love his enjoyment when around family.

The other thing that he enjoys doing is getting stuck in the beanbag , not able to move his legs.
"I'm stuck!"
"Hi Nana"
"Oh dear, I seem stuck!"

He also loves looking at people through their glass doors. So much to explore at Nana and Poppy's!

We also found that Oscar and Daniel are both ticklish under their chin and respond in the same way. Pretty cute! Definitely related!

This morning James was showing Daniel his cover photo on his phone, it's a photo of Daniel in his swans gear. We asked him if it's a photo of Daniel and he nodded his head. We don't know if he understands a nod means yes or not but it was pretty cool to see.

He is also enjoying throwing his ball around. James gave him a box to play with today and he had fun throwing his ball, sometimes having it land in the box. As you can see, he was pretty pleased with himself when he got it in and we cheered.

A couple of weeks ago I received a call from my boss asking if I still wanted one day a week. I said that I was still keen if they were able to have me. She told me that Wednesdays would most likely be the day unless I heard differently from her. Jens and I did a trial run yesterday with her taking Daniel to see how he will go as she will be looking after him. While he was there I got a call from Lyn again asking if we could change the day to Tuesdays. After talking with Jens we worked out that Tuesdays wouldn't really be the best day but we could do Mondays. After talking with the teachers who are affected by it and messaging Lyn back it looks like I will be teaching on Mondays for the rest of the year. I will be working with Stage 2 literacy, mainly working with learning support students. While I'm a bit sad that it's not whole class teaching I am happy that it is working with Cyndie, head of learning support who also mentors me, and that it is in Stage 2. I don't fully understand what I will be doing but I guess my job will evolve as I do it. Fortunately Daniel had a wonderful day with Jens, Howie and Oscar and all who were concerned were very happy at the end of the day. Phew! So I will be a working class girl again in a couple of weeks. A huge thank you to Jens who is making it possible by looking after Daniel for me.

Also looking forward to Jenny, Maddie and Julie arriving very soon! Can't wait to hang out with them this week!
