November saw some new and special experiences including black eyes and meeting some cricket players.
Eliza had her 'best playdate ever' when Allie came around because they both did face painting, including painting my face.
We enjoyed a lovely church Afterparty with chicken burgers on the lawns. Was so casual but so fun chatting with friends, meeting new people and just being in community.
James and I headed out to dinner with Emma, Lachie and Rod to celebrate the end of a Herdle tournament. It was our first experience of Teppanyaki and it was so much fun (as well as stressful at times when needing to catch things). We did a pretty good job overall and the food was very tasty.
I also enjoyed a long overdue catch up with Mother's Group girls. I love that 10 years on we're still great friends, enjoy a catch up and don't want to stop chatting. They are such good value and I love hearing that their family lives are just as 'normal' as ours. It is messy, chaotic, stressful and filled with love.
I received a phone call from school while at work. Gotta love the ones that start with 'Daniel is fine, but...' It was followed up by 'He has received a decent bump to the head and has an impressive egg on his head. We are needing him to be picked up because of risk of concussion.'
Because he wasn't sick and because James was out for work I picked Daniel up and took him to work. They didn't joke about the decent egg on his head. Turned out that they were playing a game of pacman on the basketball courts. The teacher and another student were in. They were on either side of the court so Daniel turned to run away from the person who was in and sprinted in the opposite direction. As he was running he saw the other person in so stopped and turned to run back. Problem was that there was another kid running towards Daniel. Daniel's eye caught this kids forehead. He was also run into on the back of his head but another buddy's chin. Daniel's eye immediately flared up. He was fine, but it was a very impressive eye. He can and sat next to me at work for the rest of the day. Wasn't until bedtime that I read that if risk of concussion you shouldn't be looking at a screen. Oops. Daniel enjoyed watching a movie and doing mathletics on the computer next to me at work. Fortunately there was no concussion symptoms besides a sore head.
The next morning. Impressive!
James headed back into work which Alexander was a bit sad about so he asked for hearts to be drawn - has been a while since that request. Daniel was a bit too cool for it this time but came around after I explained that it wasn't to help him but instead to help Alexander feel better.
A very exciting and special night was heading out to the Women's BBL match for the kids to take part on the field. It was initially just for Alexander and Eliza being Master Blaster kids, but they needed a couple of extra kids on the field so invited Daniel to join too. They received a cap and shirt, and got to go onto the field to meet one of the players and get their cap signed.
First up were the Thunder supporters. Alexander wanted to go with his friends so put his hand up to go onto the field wearing Thunder colours. I love that he prioritised this over wearing his favourite team colours.

The kids had an awesome time cheering on the Sixers (and Thunder).
At halftime they had a catching competition on the field. A bit unfair having some Under 10s and 11s kids on the field (Daniel being 1 of them) but it was all in the spirit of fun. The kids each managed to take a catch which was great.
Daniel was the last man standing for the Sixers while a younger kid was last man standing for Thunder. Daniel was lucky to get a catch directly hit to him and ended up winning the comp! He was very excited. I love that he ran away from the interviewer. Had a bit of a chuckle. Well done buddy.
Next up were the Sixers kids who got to run onto the field and meet a player.Daniel met Kate Peterson and Eliza met Lauren Cheatle
The kids had such a fun night watching, cheering, hanging with their friends and meeting some of the stars. Such a great night. They even made it onto the dance cam.
At school Alexander also received his first Bronze award. It was lovely to be able to be back at the school to see him receive his award. Well done bubba.
