Daniel's 10!

My big boy has reached double digits. How crazy that feels. Where has the time gone??

The last night of being 9 he offered to read to Eliza and Alexander. Too sweet. They do have their lovely moments.

On Monday morning we all got up and dressed, ready for present time. A very excited boy.

We headed off to the Brook for breakfast (as per Daniel's request). He wanted something different to Monday Morning cafe and was very happy. Our cultured boy enjoyed poached eggs on smashed avo sourdough before dropping him off at school.

After school we had the Howies come around to give presents and join in the birthday celebrations. Daniel was stoked to receive his own pair of watermelon socks (like the other 2).

We also Facetimed with Nana J to open his present from her and have a chat. Technology is great. He loved his presents.

A birthday needs to have some cake. Because Nana was making a cake Tuesday night, I was making a cake on Saturday for the family party and then I was making another cake for his Birthday party I decided that he didn't need a proper cake so bought a Woolies ice cream cake instead. So yummy!

Tuesday we got to celebrate Daniel as a family. For his party he was tossing up between treetops with friends or Luna Park. The more that I thought about doing treetops with a group of kids, the more I felt it wouldn't work or be as fun. If someone wasn't enjoying it or got scared, it's a long time to be sitting around while others climbed. So the compromise was for us to do Daniel's party at Luna Park and head to treetops as a family. I'm very glad that we made that choice. James picked the kids up from school at lunch time and then came and picked me up from work and we headed to treetops. Brilliant way to do it as there weren't heaps of people around as it was still school time.

James and Daniel got geared up to do the larger climbing circuit while Alexander and Eliza got kitted up to do the younger one. They needed someone to watch them so I took one for the team and dressed warm to sit and watch them climb. They loved it. I was so proud of each of the kids because they overcame any fears and enjoyed it. Eliza and Alexander loved climbing together and especially the flying foxes. Daniel really enjoyed climbing with Daniel and did such a good job with clipping on and off and waiting for his turn.

Flying through the trees was so much fun! Meanwhile James and Daniel were doing training to learn how to move safely through the trees. Then it was their time to enjoy the climbing.

I was very proud of Eliza. She was quite nervous about the height and her fear of heights but she had confidence in the koala holding her up and in her balance.

Daniel had a great time climbing along.

Everyone was busy climbing and flying.

Spot the climbers.

I encouraged Eliza and Alexander to try flying through the sky and they loved it!

Again, I was proud of Eliza pushing through when the climbing times got tricky. She did such a good job at balancing along the logs.

Everyone was so busy climbing for 2.5 hours. It was great!

More flying through the sky.

Daniel had such a blast up in the trees.

I got cold sitting and watching but loved seeing everyone enjoying their time in the trees.

We headed to Mexican for dinner because Daniel wanted to have burritos or nachos. He was a happy boy!

On Tuesday night we headed to Nana and Poppy's for dinner and Nana made him a lovely birthday cake.

On Saturday we had Daniel's family birthday party. It was great to see everyone. For this party, Daniel requested a ferris wheel birthday cake. I looked on the internet for a few different types of cake designs. It was pretty tricky to find the right cake but I came across a cupcake design that was perfect! He was very excited about his cake.

The Howies gave Daniel watermelon socks so he could join the party

On Sunday we had Daniel's birthday party with friends at Luna Park. What cake did he want for that? The Luna Park face. Oh my word. Tricky cake to do, but think I did ok.
