Easter Weekend

Easter time seemed to come up quickly this year. Blink and it is here. On the Monday before Easter, Eliza had a special visit from the Easter Bunny at her dance class.
On the Wednesday afternoon I walked past this sweet moment. They do have a funny relationship. They love each other and then they drive each other crazy. This was a moment of loving each other.

Thursday afternoon at school pick up the kids were really excited to see some sky writing! It was funny hearing the conversations though trying to work out what it said.
T= heart? What does that mean?
But it was a cool chance to talk with Daniel and Eliza about it and the real meaning.
The cross that Jesus died on = love for us all.

Good Friday we normally would head around to Mum and Dad's place for Easter lunch with the Howies, Auntie Sue and Grandma. This year was again different. Mum and Dad were on their holiday in Tasmania (having a lovely time) so Auntie Sue kindly offered for us to go around to her place. It was another first without having Grandma there, and also a first of not having corned beef for lunch. The sausages were nice, but it was just different. Also Jens and Howie were both working so we brought Oscar with us to hang out too.

The day included some backyard cricket. I am amazed that they didn't lose the ball in the bush.
We had a tasty lunch outside. James said it was different. We never sit outside. I just remember ages ago when I was little sitting outside for a family thing and my chair falling backwards because it was on the bit of a slope. But we have eaten inside for ages because it was easier for Grandma.
The kids moved to playing in the front yard and climbing up the stairs. I message Jenny to ask her if she remembered there being stairs there when we were little. She said no because we always climbed up the rock edge. I agreed. Apparently, there have always been stairs there.

The kids then started to do handstand competitions. Pretty funny watching the different skill levels.

James and I then took the kids for a little bush walk. We ended up walking back along the track Oscar went on for part of his cross country run.

The kids were so tired and unmotivated to walk back up the hill. I asked them who would be able to get there first - they all ended up running up the hill! Winner

Of course the cuckoo clock was a hit. It needed some encouragement to come out.

It was really a nice day there. Different to other Good Friday lunches but still very relaxed and nice.

On Saturday the kids made their own Easter baskets out of egg cartons. And in the morning they made Easter hats at the shops (by chance).

Saturday night I set up the table, ready for Easter morning.

We started with doing the Easter Story scavenger hunt. They each took turns to read the clues.

They were a bit excited with their books.

We then headed outside with Easter Hats on and Easter baskets in their hands ready for their Easter egg hunt. It was fun hiding the eggs around the paved areas.

The end of the hunt... or so we thought.

We counted out how many eggs the kids had and found that we were missing one. James and I tried to remember where we had hidden them all. I checked in the places that I could remember I'd hidden them and they had been found. James walked around and checked but couldn't find them either. It was quite funny that we had managed to lose some of our eggs.

After more looking by us all, I spotted them out of the corner of my eye and had to give clues to the kids. James had hidden them in such a good place, he couldn't remember where it was.

Alexander spotted them on the shed door handle

The kids facetimed with Nana and Poppy and enjoyed telling them about their eggs.

At church the kids went out during the sermon and made their own laminated placemats about the Easter story. I really love the designs they made and that they get to look at it each day.

It has been a different but nice weekend, remember that Jesus is the reason for the season and spending time with us as a family, making memories, laughing together and of course eating together too.
